Biography

The British band The Coral was formed in the middle of 90’s in Hoylake. The members of the group got acquainted in the school, and after the graduation they decided to start the serious musical career and spend all their time on their favorite occupation. The Coral had certain aims to achieve, and soon they signed the contract with Liverpool label Deltasonic. The band started to play gigs all around the city and practically in no time they gained popularity and attracted attention of numerous fans.

The band’s debut record titled The Coral was released in 2002 and it got fair reviews from the musical critics and in the same year it was nominated for the prestigious award Mercury Prize. Nevertheless, The Coral’s creativity was noticed not only in Great Britain: their composition Dreaming Of You was included into the famous American TV series Scrubs. The second studio work Magic And Medicine was issued in 2003 and it debuted at the first place in charts and was well-received both by the musical experts and music lovers. That album included the famous songs Don't Think You're The First and Pass It On, and the violin part in the composition Eskimo Lament was performed by Megan Childs from Gorky's Zygotic Mynci. In 2004 The Coral released the mini-album Nightfreak And The Sons Of Becker, which had been recorded within a week. Some songs were written just in one day - Grey Harpoon for example. Thereby, Nightfreak And The Sons Of Becker is a some kind of intermediate element between Magic And Medicine and the band’s third longplay The Invisible Invasion (2005).

In the summer of 2007 The Coral released the single Who's Gonna Find Me from their fourth studio work titled Roots & Echoes. With that new program the band went on touring and played at on stage alongside with Arctic Monkeys. The same year the musicians took part in the annual festival BBC Electric Proms, where they performed the composition In The Rain with the legendary Noel Gallagher. In 2008 The Coral pleased their fans by releasing an extremely solid compilation album The Singles Collection, which included the band’s best works and a new song Being Somebody Else.

In 2010 the musicians issued their fifth studio attempt titled Butterfly House. That record was critically acclaimed and well received by the fans. The Coral had been working on Butterfly House for two years and were thoroughly choosing the material. As the result they managed to create the strong and atmospheric album: the musicians presented their signature sound with elements of folk, psychedelia of 60’s and modern rock. There is absolutely no doubt that such a musical cocktail will be enjoyed by all the good music lovers.
