Biography

At the very beginning of the twenty-first century Indie-rockers camp was enlarged by the band Fleet Foxes from Seattle, who managed to make a name in a confident way. There is absolutely no doubt that it is difficult to stand out among a huge quantity of indie-bands, however young and energetic Fleet Foxes succeeded. Not without help from famous producer Phil Ek the musicians recorded and released their debut self-titled EP Fleet Foxes in 2006. It included only five compositions, but it was enough, as soon as She Got Dressed, Textbook Love and other songs played their role perfectly. The young band was talked about, while representatives of Sub Pop Records turned their intent attention to Fleet Foxes. Pretty soon the rockers signed a contract and began preparing the material for their very first full-length album.

In 2007 Fleet Foxes come down to the point of the album recording. Combining regular performances with the studio work they were in a search of the right sound. It is worth mentioning that the rockers had recording sessions in many various places: directly in the studio, in their apartments and even in the basement of vocalist Robin Pecknold’s place. It is noteworthy that such style of work did not affect the quality of the long play at all: the final result even exceeded courageous expectations. Recorded less than in a year, Fleet Foxes saw the light in 2008 and it created a real furore. Numerous prestigious issues entitled that studio attempt the Best album of 2008, while Rolling Stone even included it into the list of 100 Best albums of the decade. Besides, Fleet Foxes were honored to receive many positive reviews, and, which is the most important, they got listeners’ acknowledgment. Back then it was clear for music lovers and critics that Fleet Foxes’ Platinum debut long play was the beginning of a successful musical career.

Three years later the musicians released their second studio attempt Helplessness Blues (2011). However blues is only a part of its title: Fleet Foxes prepared their signature mix of folk, rock and quite an off the wall style baroque pop. That musical cocktail turned out to be of a great success, and Fleet Foxes had a chance to make sure of it back in 2006. In spite of the fact that Fleet Foxes can sound very professional, the band’s frontman stated that he did not rushed to the ideal record without a single mistake. Inaccuracies, little blots – these were the achievements that the group wanted to get. Out of the blue? Probably, but that is exactly the way how the group managed to create an incredible and vivid atmosphere. Fleet Foxes established a reputation of very talented musicians, who are able to compose truly original music – just check out their vocal parts that are split for several voices. In brief, the rockers recorded another strong album, which will find its well deserved place in a collection of any connoisseur of music.

Fleet Foxes is an album with a well-developed inner world, which is full of weird romantic and fabulous imagery. You rather have to feel it than to listen. The record is a little bit lazy and passive but it is definitely of a kind nature
