Biography

The Feeling are a five-piece band from Sussex, England. They say that their name comes from a neon sign seen on a bar in Paris and claim that they are playing pop music, although most critics characterize their songs as soft rock. The Feeling have released only two albums (three, including a limited release of Fill My Little World), but they already won a number of awards and attracted attention of fans. The Feeling was formed in 2005 by Dan Gillespie Sells and Richard Jones, who attended music school together and played in the band Horn. After the school they were joined by Paul Stewart along with Kevin and Ciaran Jeremiah (who are relatives). The band started its career… in Alps, where they were playing live gigs featuring covers such as Video Killed The Radio Star by The Buggles and Raining Blood by Slayer along with their own songs. Some of them, such as Funny Cigarette, Sun is Shining, Still You Want More, Never Be Lonely and Join With Us were later released as singles, album tracks or b-sides. It is said that at the beginning of their career musicicans blagued to producers that they can perform fifty songs when in fact they only knew six.

However, in 2006 The Feeling moved to London, signed with Island Records and released their debut album, Twelve Stops and Home, on 5 June 2006. This title refers to the frequent London Underground journey Sells used to take from central London to his home. Island Records took 120 British music journalists to Paris for the day where the band performed live in a restaurant. Three singles from Twelve Stops and Home, called Sewn (which is featured on the FIFA 07 vidoegame soundtrack), Fill My Little World and Never Be Lonely, reached high places at UK charts, and, as a result, The Feeling was named the number one most played band on UK radio.

The Feeling spent the secon half of 2006 and all 2007 on touring across the United Kingdom and US (The Feeling went together with Mat Kearney and The Burden on American tour). The Feeling also won Songwriters of the Year at Ivor Novello Awards and Band of the Year at Elle Style Awards. They also took part in a number of charity and coomercial gigs, including Concert For Diana at Wembley Stadium, Coachella festival in California and so on. The Feeling's second album, entitled Join With Us, was released on February 18 2008, with the first single I Thought It Was Over. The majority of the recording for the album took place at Bradley House - a stately home in Maiden Bradley near Warminster (home of the Duke of Somerset), whilst most mixing was carried out in Los Angeles, California. In March the band went on a small UK tour. The Feeling also confirmed that they will support John Bon Jovi on his UK tour.

The Feeling, Join With Us mp3Join With Us
The Feeling became louder and gained expensive production. Join With Us is a very competently crafted album. It follows the same retro path in the stylistic sense but still it sounds much more up-to-dated than its predecessor
