Something about Natalie
The future singer-songwriter, model, L'Oréal's face and one of the most beautiful women of all time, Natalie Imbruglia was born in Australia in 1975 into a family of a Sicilian father and an Australian mother. In her teens Natalie studied ballet, Scottish dancing and appeared in TV commercials of Coke and popular Australian snack Twisties. Once the girl wanted to start singing and even passed the audition, but refused from the solo career and instead of that she decided to become an actress. From the age of 16 Imbruglia starred in a famous Australian soap Neighbours. After this Natalie moved to London to work on TV. It is hard to believe, but in a year or so she still had no job and soon became bankrupt. This failure made her remember the passion for singing. That is the way the world cheered the new pop star after the incredible success of her first single Torn. Since that time the artist recorded three albums. In 2007 Natalie decided to celebrate her 10 years in musical industry and released a single compilation Glorious: The Singles 1997-2007.
The creativity jet-set
Since the single Torn Imbruglia had written many wonderful compositions. Glorious: The Singles 1997-2007 gives the opportunity to listen to all Natalie's best songs from her three solo albums and appreciate several new tracks. The disc features Torn, Big Mistake and Smoke from the debut work Left of the Middle. Written in depressive state White Lillies Island is presented by such soft and beautiful, but dark singles, as Beauty On The Fire, Wrong Impression and That Day. Beauty On The Fire is for sure one of Natalie's best, though underestimated songs. Bright and happy Counting Down The Days, inspired by the Natalie's marriage to the Silverchair frontman, gave to the disc such wonderful singles, like an unusual Counting Down The Days, something in between a ballad and a pop-hit, and a pleasant and melodic Shiver. Among the new songs the most striking is Glorious.
10 years are no limit
Glorious: The Singles 1997-2007 is not a mere compilation. It is the work that can be called a significant occurrence in Imbruglia's singing activity. The artist wants to demonstrate that she has made a long way in her solo career, but she is not going to stop at it. Such songs, like Amelia and Glorious, show that Natalie is full of creative ideas and, moreover, give a broad hint on what her new album will be like. During these 10 years the artist made a giant progress in the show-business world, researched the sides of her talent in various states of mood from depressed to inspired, and managed not to lose her individual style in the monotonous stream of pop-singers. The album Glorious: The Singles 1997-2007 lets to estimate the contribution, Natalie made into the pop-music as the singer-songwriter. It is a brilliant collection of both indisputable hits and new beautiful songs by the Australian pop-diva who recommended herself long time ago as a vocalist with rich and expressive voice and a gifted author.
