Perfectionist review

Natalia Kills’ confident debut

Native of Great Britain Natalia Kills is an incredibly miscellaneous person. She is a singer, an actress and also she is a director of short-films. Curiously enough, she manages to combine all these activities in a rather easy way, so it does not affect their quality of those. Natalia has got enough consistency of aim; thereby in combination with talent that feature helps Kills to move forward. She can reach her goals: the singer left native Foggy Albion and moved to Los-Angeles, hoping to fulfill her potential. In spite of the quantity of dare-devils, looking for places in the sun in California, Natalia’s audacious step proved its value. Later the performer was noticed by will.i.am, who offered her a contract with his label (however afterwards the singer changed the record company to Interscope Records). Then the hard work on the singles began: Mirrors appeared in 2010, while Wonderland saw the light a bit later, in 2011. Compositions attracted music lovers’ attention, thereby by the moment Perfectionist was released, Natalia had her own listeners.

Perfectionist’s debut perfectionism

Natalia started working on Perfectionist in 2009 and she got assistance from such famous figures of musical industry as Martin Kierszenbaum (who collaborated with Lady Gaga, Sting and others), Fernando Garibay (who worked with U2), Akon and many other professionals. Of course that kind of team became a good support for the young performer and it gave her even more confidence in her efforts. If we look at fourteen tracks of Perfectionist as at the result of two years work, it must be stated that Natalia managed to realize her ideas into reality and to record an extremely strong album. One can make sure of that just by listening to the first compositions of the long play. A short introductory track Perfection is followed by a song Wonderland, which prepares listeners to the whole album in a proper way. All in all Perfectionist goes by simply in one breath, and that is not a merit of professional arrangements only (thank to the producers), but also it is definitely a merit of Natalia. Her voice does sound great, while the vocal parts impress by their originality. Perfectionist's atmosphere harmonically combines electronica, R’n’B and pop music – such kind of mixture can hardly be a surprise; however everything is performed at the highest level indeed. Probably the record will give the world several hits: Love Is A Suicide, Not In Love and others will peak in charts for sure.

Excellent beginning

Finally Perfectionist saw the light and now that album will be evaluated both by listeners and critics. Of course opinions will be different, as soon as every single person has his own ideas about what the masterpiece is. But one thing can be said for sure: Kills decided to put out her strength, and she succeeded. In one of the interviews Natalia stated that she also had been working on a movie that got a title The Exhibitionist. That film became a sort of visualization of Perfectionist, because the singer wanted to express in full what inspired her, what was close and interesting to her. All in all in two years Kills made a huge amount of work and the results proved to be impressive. The very fact of famous producers’ collaboration with the young singer is explicatory by itself. They saw a potential in her and helped to fulfill it. In general the album’s title fits Natalia’s attitude to the creativity perfectly: if you do something, do it really well. So we just have to wait for Kills’ following works, because the perfection that is so much desired by the singer does not have limits.
