Melanie C
Biography
The British singer, songwriter and composer Melanie Jayne Chisholm performing under the pseudonym Melanie C was born in Whiston in 1974. She has known since the very childhood what she would like to do in her life – music, art and acting – all these activities had always attracted the future singer. Melanie C studied in the musical school and after graduation she entered the Bird College, where she continued to master her dance and performance skills. During the studying Melanie C noticed an advertisement about the casting for the new group. She decided to try her strength and the time showed that it was the decision that predetermined her future destiny. Later that band became the most successful girl group in the whole history of show-business - Spice Girls.
The group issued three amazing and successful albums. Then the members of Spice Girls decided to split and to pursue their solo careers (however they reunited in 2007, to the great joy of the fans). The music lovers were looking forward to find out what would come out of this. Melanie C pleased the fans with the first part of singles in 1998, including such super hits as Never Be the Same Again, Goin' Down and Northern Star. The eponymous long play Northern Star saw the light in1999 and it peaked at the very top of numerous charts. Listeners had a great opportunity to make sure that Melanie was able to release excellent records by herself – she got the reputation of an excellent composer for a good reason. She needed four years to prepare the following studio attempt titled Reason (2003) and to enlarge her discography. Reason proved to be as good as its predecessor and it was certified Gold in Great Britain.
The artist decided to organize her own record label, and her third album Beautiful Intentions (2005) was recorded at Red Girl Records. Definitely an excellent debut for the company and not less notable addition to Melanie’s employment sheet. The long play turned out to be called-for, that is why later it was even re-issued. The studio work titled This Time (2007) was not commercially successful and it did not bring any high positions in the charts. Nevertheless the artist’s faithful fans would hardly agree with the statistics in general. However Melanie C is a co-author of eleven songs that conquered the chart of Great Britain (such kind of an achievement is a rare one indeed – the better result belongs to the great Madonna and Sir Elton John). She did her best to make the next long play truly rememberable.
The performer invited professionals with whom she had not worked before, because her aim was to get the renewed sound and to experiment with the whole concept of the album. The long-awaited The Sea saw the light in 2011 and it really proved to be just like it was planned by Melanie. Pop-music flavored by elements of rock and dance notes was enjoyed by both the performer’s old fans and by all the connoisseurs of high-quality music.
