Songs on Mothership were welcomed with ovations
One of the peculiarities of Led Zeppelin's albums has always been the absence of fillers, which has made it quite difficult to pick out the songs to make up the compilation. Nevertheless Mothership offers the most well-known and successful compositions which have been always performed at the concerts and were welcomed with ovations. The record opens with a reflexive song Good Times, Bad Times from the band's debut eponymous album. Bonham's drum work is best revealed on outrageous Communication Breakdown, an the blues of Dazed And Confused proves once again how much diverse were the directions the band worked with. A slow composition Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You is a great example of Led Zeppelin's acoustic music, and one of the early hits Whole Lotta Love is anthem of all young men written under the influence of man's hormones. The text of epic Ramble On has been obviously prompted by Tolkien's books, and one of the most famous Immigrant Song has by now served as a soundtrack to more than one movie, including Shrek The Third. One of the audience's favorite Since I've Been Loving You is another example of blues full of emotional outbursts, while When The Levee Breaks is definitely one of the most well-known tunes in the world. Yet of course the peak of Led Zeppelin's creative work is considered the eight-minute ballad Stairway To Heaven without which the compilation would not be complete. Hit The Song Remains The Same is a heavier composition with amazing drum work, and the guitars of Jimmy Page and John Paul Johns sparkle on Over The Hills And Far Away. The riff of magnificent piece of music Kashmir is probably known to everybody, regarding the fact that even P. Diddy has used it for one of his works, and the record closes with In The Evening and All My Love, comparatively recent and no less famous songs.
