Lady Antebellum
Biography
Lady Antebellum is an American country band, formed in 2006 in Nashville. Their musical style presents a mix of rock and country, and probably that peculiarity helped the musicians to acquire popularity. In 2005 Charles Kelley moved to Nashville from North Carolina, where he worked in the field of construction with his brother. Later he convinced his old friend Dave Haywood to move to Tennessee, so they could create music together. At that period Charles met Hillary, and she joined Haywood and Kelly. Members of the band had been associated with the music very well: Hillary’s mother – country music singer Linda Davis, Charles brother - pop artist Josh Kelley. The trio was named Lady Antebellum and soon the group was performing at local Nashville venues, and in 2007 they signed a recording contract with Capitol Records Nashville.
Shortly after the contract was signed, Lady Antebellum were invited by Jim Brickman to take part in the recording of his single Never Alone, which hit number 14 of Billboard magazine chart. In the middle of 2007 the trio wrote a song for MTV show the Hills. The band’s first single Love Don't Live Here was released in September of 2007 and reached number 3 of Billboard’s country chart. First music video of the trio appeared in December of 2007. The debut album Lady Antebellum, which was produced by Paul Worley with Victoria Shaw, was released in 2008, and became number one in Country albums chart. Nashville trio’s second single Lookin' for a Good Time was issued in June 2008 and hit number 11 in charts. After the record of the debut album Lady Antebellum musicians were lucky to collaborate with such singers as Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood, Alan Jackson and others. In 2008 the band had a part in tour of one of the most famous country music singers Martina McBride. On October 7, 2009 Lady Antebellum album was certified Platinum: more than a million of copies sold in the US.
Band’s popularity kept on growing, and Lady Antebellum spent a lot of time touring. Nevertheless, the musicians managed to organize their time well in order to have the opportunity to concentrate on the second studio album. Trio’s second record titled Need You Now appeared in 2009 and for the first week after the release almost half a million of copies were sold. During the career Lady Antebellum got prestigious awards: in 2008 the band got Top New Duo or Group award of Academy of Country Music, they won in nomination Best New Artist at the 51st Grammy Awards. Two studio albums and singles I Run to You and Need You Now were certified Platinum. Style of Lady Antebellum includes country, rock, soul music and even rhythm and blues of 60’s. The musicians found their own sound and acquired numerous fans. Nashville Lifestyles magazine called Lady Antebellum the next big thing in the world of country music.
