Chicane
Biography
The British musician Nicholas Bracegirdle, performing under the pseudonym Chicane, was born in 1971 in the capital of Great Britain. In the childhood he started learning how to play piano and classical guitar, and a bit later he was much influenced by the electronic music. Compositions of such performers as Jean Michel Jarre, Vince Clarke and many others changed Nick’s destiny. Chicane wanted to create the melodic dance music, and he seriously decided to achieve that goal: at the age of twelve Chicane already worked on demos and sent them to various labels.
The debut single Offshore from the very first album Far From The Maddening Crowds (1997) was issued in 1996 and it managed to attract the music lovers’ attention in no time. Later that song became one of Chicane’s most famous and recognizable compositions. The record Far From The Maddening Crowds was critically acclaimed and the fans enjoyed it as well. The following long play Behind The Sun was released in 2000, and its lead single Saltwater (1999), just like Offshore, became the real hit in the clubs. Behind The Sun turned out to be extremely strong and successful, and its Gold status proved that perfectly.
Chicane's third studio attempt titled Somersault appeared in 2007. At that period the musician faced the problem of Internet Pirates and he had to spend much time and efforts to solve it. Financially Somersault was not successful because of the illegal distribution in the World Wide Web; however the quality of that album was definitely high. In 2008 Chicane’s discography was enlarged by the wonderful compilation album The Best Of Chicane: 1996–2008, which included all the best songs and remixes.
The musician’s fourth studio work titled Giants was released in 2010. Traditionally the album proved to be original and strong, created in the easy-recognizable Chicane’s style. Nick’s numerous fans already enjoyed Giants, which undoubtedly will please all the electronic dance music lovers.
