Biography

James Morrison, the winner of BRIT Award 2007, was born in 1984 in the town Rugby, which is located on the River Avon. Parents of the future singer were great fans of music: James’ mother loved soul music, while his father enjoyed country and folk. So that is why it was not a surprise that young Morrison started learning to play a guitar in the very childhood – his uncle showed him a couple of basic blues chords, and James immediately felt in love with the world of notes, scales and melodies. He performed a great number of compositions of various artists, gaining the experience and mastering his playing skills. With time he even began performing in one of the local pubs, which definitely helped the promising musician to believe in his own strength.

James entered the college and continued to be inseparable with the music. The artist kept on performing someone else’s compositions, however pretty soon he understood that it was the right time to try writing his own songs. It turned out that this decision was absolutely right one – the musician established a reputation of an extremely talented composer and not less amazing author of lyrics. Thus, his very first single You Give Me Something, which appeared in 2006, peaked at the second line of the chart, and not every young performer can be proud of such an achievement. The same year James released his debut studio long play titled Undiscovered (2006). The record was really called-for, and more than million of copies were sold all around the world. James’ style was enjoyed in the full volume indeed: drive rock songs and lyrical ballads sounded excellent, and the musician’s voice somehow harmonized incredibly perfectly with both.

Two years later Morrison enlarged his discography with the album called Songs for You, Truths for Me (2008). And again the intuition did not let the performer down, which is proved by the high levels of sales and upper places in numerous charts. Save Yourself, Broken Strings (recorded alongside with Nelly Furtado) and other compositions became the guarantee of success of Songs for You, Truths for Me. That album proved to be the logical continuation of its predecessor by getting all the best features of Undiscovered. Also the fact that the artist remained faithful to his style was a good reason of joy for all the fans, who had already fallen in love with James’ signature style. After that release Morrison began working on the material for his following new record. The process was not boosted, which is a great thing indeed, and that is why the artist was working really thoroughly on his third studio attempt. In one of the interviews he stated that this album will be able to show all his potential. Well, the long awaited The Awakening saw the light in 2011 and it really proved to be enjoyed by the fans. Rememberable melodies and sincere lyrics: the author talks about his father, about himself, about his aims and about what he had already got will hardly leave people untouched. There is no doubt that The Awakening will become a nice addition to collections of those music lovers, who appreciate truly sincere creativity.
