FutureSex/LoveSounds review

Justin Timberlake’s new triumph

After the success of the 2002’s debut solo album Justified the former ‘NSync front singer Justin Timberlake has taken some rest before releasing a sophomore effort. This year producers Timbaland, Rick Rubin and the Black Eyed Peas’ Will.i.am have joined him in recording the album called Futuresex/Lovesounds, a 13 tracks long record, most of which are written by Justin himself. Having a keen sense of the contemporary pop innovations and a clear understanding of what the audience is expecting from him, Timberlake has managed to create a quality collection of sultry ballads and stylish club numbers, filling them with his own vision of pop and R&B music. The fans will be happy to hear his falsetto vocals on the largest parts of the tracks, and to mark Justin’s growth into a mature young man sure of himself especially when it comes about the relations with the opposite sex. On Futuresex/Lovesounds the pop, R&B, funk, soul and rock music of the 1980s combines with the modern trends of production and studio processing, and Justin Timberlake’s singing reechoes the performace manner of Prince and a bit of young James Brown. This is the singer’s new triumph outshining the debut creation and an album that is going to be one of the best pop and R&B records this year.

The key topics on Futuresex/Lovesounds are love games, relations and mere sex

Justin Timberlake’s image has been always associated with sex appeal and seductive looks, and with the release of the new album the artist’s voice gains even hotter sounding. The key topics on Futuresex/Lovesounds, as it is clear from the very name, are love games, relations and mere sex. Opening with the slow title track, produced by Timbaland, the record goes on with the first single off Sexyback, having an infectious rhythm that would make anybody move. On the funky track Sexy Ladies/Let Me Talk To You Prelude the combination of the bass line and Justin’s vocal bears the most resemble to early material from Prince, and the mid-tempo second single My Love with T.I. is remarkable for the memorable melody and a more soulful singing. Many are going to estimate the longest composition on the album called LoveStoned/I Think She Knows Interlude as the highlight: the song consists of two parts, starting playfully with an outstanding bass line and then turning into a monumental beating pop rock creation, whose guitar parts produce a really amazing effect. Just for a change the themes of heartache and revenge appear on the bitter mid-tempo ballad What Goes Around.../...Comes Around Interlude, and there is one more non-relations track Losing My Way devoted to the problem of drug addiction. Snoop Dogg appears on the final track Pose, making a solid ending of Futuresex/Lovesounds and adding a delicious portion of his soft rapping.

Justin Timberlake has found his line in the show business

The irrefutable idol of today’s youth and its female part especially, Justin Timberlake has made a grand step forward remaining himself more than anybody. On the other hand, he is evidently evolving and becoming a more confident vocalist and dancer able to improvise. His spontaneity is more noticeable during live performances, yet a careful listener can catch this trait of his on the album as well. His lyrics might not be deep and thought provoking, but it has enough honesty and straightforwardness to conquer the girls’ hearts and serve an example of eloquence for the guys. As for the melodies, Justin manages to compose them accordingly with his often falsetto vocals, which profitably shows him as an artful musician. He also plays keyboards and guitar at his concerts, plays various role in videos always attracting the most beautiful women. Listening to Justin’s songs one can only be glad that he has so little problems, enjoys his fame and fortune singing about what he probably likes most in life – girls’ attention. His provocative videos speak more than the texts of the songs, and the things are not likely to change in the nearest future. Justin Timberlake has found his line in the show business and is enjoying his life to its full, successfully sharing this pleasure with the audience.
