In The Grace Of Your Love
Studio Album by The Rapture released in 2011In The Grace Of Your Love review
Rock and drive from The Rapture
New York is an enormous megapolis, which absorbed thousands of cultures, a place, where totally different people live, and a place, where lots of interesting things keep happening. The culture of that city is truly promiscuous, and there is no doubt that it is one of its strong sides. The Rapture consists only of four musicians; however the band is as manifold as the city, where that bright quartet had been formed. The Rapture got their popularity not only with the help of their incredibly energetic shows and rocking on the stage. Their records also sound amazing, because the band’s main trick is definitely the style. Many bands combine multiple musical directions in their creativity, but The Rapture managed to find their own signature sound. The rockers decided to restore the old good punk-rock, but with the glance to all modern trends in the world of music. Nevertheless, such kind of a difficult task proved to be settled by The Rapture. The group’s powerful guitar sound, expression and charismatic vocals played their role just fine. The debut record Mirror saw the light in the very end of the previous century, and now, after ten years The Rapture pleased their numerous listeners with the brand new fourth studio attempt titled In The Grace of Your Love.
In The Grace of Your Love: kaleidoscope of moods
Well, after such rememberable albums as Echoes and Pieces of the People We Love the fans of New York rockers were expecting not less fascinating works. Actually critics and faithful fans had plenty of reasons to assume that this time The Rapture would not disappoint their listeners. Traditionally interesting sound of The Rapture got to the new level, because that time the legendary musician Philippe Zdar was producing the record. The long play’s opening act is the composition Sail Away, which creates the right mood. Bright vocals and almost dance rhythm section are quite good for the greetings songs. Sail Away is followed by Miss You and Blue Bird, which prove that The Rapture are moving forward in a confident way. Thus, Miss You can proudly present a rememberable part of the bass-guitar, while Blue Bird can be called a real musical experiment – isn’t it a good example of freedom of self-expression in post-punk stylistics? The album’s eponymous track In The Grace Of Your Love became the amazing decoration for the long play. Flavored with elements of electronica, that composition got some mystery and Luke Jenner’s vocals demonsrates its universalism. The frontman’s voice adapts for the atmosphere of this or that song like a chameleon: for example, the song Children differs form It Takes Time To Be A Man a lot. And such a diversity of moods within one album is always interesting.
Conquest of the music Olympia is just a matter of time
The members of The Rapture had never been too shy. The rockers stated that they would definitely conquer the music Olympia, not matter what it would take. Just like that. The time showed that it was not self-confidence but the possibility to evaluate the situation properly and the assurance in the rockers’ strength. Curiously enough The Rapture are moving in that direction, and their every new album turns out to be a logical continuation of a predecessor and it gets new original elements. Post punk, acid jazz, rock and many other genres had been combined into a wonderful unity in the The Rapture’s music. Thereby in the very beginning of the twenty first century the rockers were among the pioneers of post-punk revival. They started in a confident way, and nowadays the band became much more professional, but they preserved their passion to the music. Sometimes it may seem that it is almost impossible to record something fresh and truly original, especially if you consider the number of bands that are not afraid of experiments. However The Rapture prove every time that for them there is nothing impossible. Well, the long play In The Grace of Your Love became the new stage for the band and prepared the space for the following records.
