Biography

The rock-band from Great Britain named The Horrors managed to prove that they are not just “another band”. On the contrary, they are quite promising and interesting one. The group’s members have been in love with the music for a long time, and they truly enjoy various directions and styles, from garage rock to “new wave” and post-punk. By the year 2005 the young men decided that it was the perfect time not only for enjoying the music, but also for trying the strength and luck in creating their own compositions. Thereby the band’s first performance took place in 2005, their very first step in the professional career.

It took the musicians two years to write and prepare material for their debut long play. The album Strange House saw the light in 2007 and it attracted attention of all the lovers of the offbeat creativity in practically no time. It is an interesting fact that Strange House has its own subtitle: “Psychotic Sounds for Freaks and Weirdos”. That phrase had been invented by two fans at the official forum of The Horrors. The rockers enjoyed that short definition of their record; moreover it proved to be quite precise: Strange House does sound unusual, indeed. But it was the main reason why music lovers got so interested in The Horrors’ art.

Two years later the British released the second studio attempt titled Primary Colours (2009). They remained faithful to their style, but that time it felt much more professional. Also the shoegazing found its place in The Horrors’ songs. Very technical and energetic performance played its role - The Horrors were picking up steam. The same year the famous musical magazine NME entitled Primary Colours the best album of the year. Excellent result and the intrigue kept alive: The Horrors’ first record peaked at thirty seventh place in the British chart, while the band’s second album got on the twenty fifth place. What is next?

And the next stage proved to be even more successful. The rockers pleased numerous fans with the fresh long play titled Skying in 2011. It made the way to the fifth line in the chart, which turned out to be an excellent proof of the fact that listeners had been really waiting for that album. Skying got fair reviews from critics. The music lovers also enjoyed The Horrors’ new creation a lot. Well, the rockers definitely found their unique style: unusual, bright and rememberable. And they are not changing their way, that is for sure. But that is great, because The Horrors’ songs serve as nice areas for collaboration of punk, new wave and alternative rock notes. It is also worth mentioning that the quintet got the right name. The Horrors. Scary stories? Yes, probably. However let us remember that people like to get a bit scared.
