The R.E.D. Album
Studio Album by The Game released in 2011The R.E.D. Album review
The Game’s serious games
The performer The Game is a former member of a famous hip-hop formation G-Unit, which had been established by 50 Cent. It is a very strong band and its members do not need to be introduced. And of course G-Unit had a huge impact on development of The Game’s style. The rapper formed his own style pretty quickly with the help of his colleagues from G-Unit and also due to the classic hip-hop albums, which had been studied by The Game in an extremely careful way. The Game chose gangsta-rap for a reason (or gangsta-rap chose The Game?) – the musician’s parents were members of a band, and their son was in their track as well. However he made a decision to follow the way of art. And the time showed that the choice was absolutely correct: the very first album The Documentary (2005) became a breakthrough. The Game made a loud and confident start of his career, thus he let everyone know that there was a new star to rise in hip-hop scene. Working with famous performers and composers The Game created a notable mix of biting beats and sincere lyrics. Nowadays, when R’n’B is getting more popular, the real hip-hop is especially valued. So, The Game gives us a new example of how gangsta-rap should sound like.
The fourth stage or The R.E.D. Album
The Game already released three albums and established a reputation of a devoted professional. His first studio attempts The Documentary and Doctor's Advocate peaked at the very top of Billboard 200 chart, while LAX got only to the second place. Also the sales of LAX proved to be not as good as of the previous long plays. Of course The Game had to make huge efforts in order to conquer charts and listeners. He started working on The R.E.D. Album since 2009. Pharrell Williams, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Lil Wayne and many others also took part in the recording process. These names mean a lot for the lovers of hip-hop, so the very collaboration by itself was quite a passport to success. As the result the musicians presented twenty two (!) tracks, with the total length of more than an hour. Nobody will have doubts about The Game’s style – it remained unchanged. Drug Test, Martians Vs. Goblins and other compositions sound quite aggressive, just like the tracks from west coast should sound like. However there was enough space for softer songs as well – the delicate vocals in Hello definitely added some charm.
A worthy continuation of a career
The Game always does everything fundamentally and works on every single detail. That happened this time again. It is possible to state that The R.E.D. Album will take a notable place in the artist’s discography. Alongside with the invited musicians The Game recorded amazing tracks, which will be definitely enjoyed by the lovers of hip-hop. It has been three years since the release of his previous long play took place, and that is quite long in comparison with only one year of recording after his debut album saw the light. However the quality of The R.E.D. Album is definitely worth three years waiting. Now we can just wait for The Game’s next release and try to guess what will be presented then, because the level of his studio attempts keeps on increasing.
