The SMiLE Sessions review

The legendary surf-rock from The Beach Boys

The band The Beach Boys does not have to be introduced – one of the founders of bright surf-rock are very well known to music lovers all over the world. Summer and light music from the Californian band found popularity in no time back then, and that was not a surprise at all. The group was acknowledged and loved due to its rememberable melodies and interesting and elaborated vocal parts. In brief, The Beach Boys managed to find their own unique style that can be hardly mixed up with someone else’s. A great many of hits, such as Surfin' USA, have been permanent members of radio broadcasting, and they remain that important nowadays. But now these time-tested compositions will be accompanied by the new ones: the long-awaited release of The SMiLE Sessions finally took place. The material for that long play was recorded in the sixties; however it was not presented until now. It is worth mentioning that the band’s fans knew that this album work could appear on the shelves, so they kept on hoping that once the day would come. The SMiLE Sessions was even called the most famous unreleased studio attempt, and it does not matter that it may sound a bit strange. Finally The SMiLE Sessions was released, and all the willing can enjoy all brand new compositions from The Beach Boys.

The SMiLE Sessions: greetings from the past century

It is always nice to get a letter, which had been sent many years ago, but got lost due to some reasons. It was kept somewhere and later it was delivered to the addressee. Well, these emotions are probably quite close to ones that are caused by The SMiLE Sessions, which was recorded almost a half of a century ago. That positive long play included a lot of amazing songs, while the total length of The SMiLE Sessions is really impressive. Our Prayer is the opening act of the album, and it demonstrates The Beach Boys’ signature polyphony. It is followed by another little vocal masterpiece called Gee, which brings listeners to the major track Heroes And Villains. Barnyard, Wonderful and other songs create an outstandingly bright, sunny and romantic atmosphere. Melodies that are well integrated with fascinating vocal parts will be remembered by listeners, that is for sure. Surf's Up, I'm In Great Shape, Wind Chimes – these are the hits from previous century, but they have all the chances to conquer music lovers’ hearts in the twenty first century.

An excellent song compilation stands for success

So, the long-awaited record finally saw the light, and The SMiLE Sessions satisfied expectations of millions of listeners. That long play is a perfect compilation of The Beach Boys’ songs, performed in their unique and easy recognizable style. Back then the musicians made a huge work and recorded a big number of compositions. Curiously enough, but the quality was not affected by the quantity. Not every album can be that commodious and volume: The Beach Boys’ fans will get more than two hours of music. Studio records give us an opportunity to hear the voices of rockers just in the middle of a creative process and that is definitely unusual and interesting. Such a cozy atmosphere will hardly leave someone untouched. Thereby, The SMiLE Sessions must be checked out not only by the band’s old fans, but also by all the lovers of beautiful and joyous music. That album will help to charge some positive energy before the long cold winter months.
