Stone Sour
Biography
American rock band Stone Sour was formed in 1992 in Iowa by the vocalist Corey Taylor and the group’s former drummer Joel Ekman. At the beginning of Stone Sour’s career the line-up was often changed, and some guitarist quitted the band even after one show. However Stone Sour managed to record two demo-tapes, and in 1995, after Jim Root joined the group, they began working on the new material. In 1996 the rockers created another demo, songs from which were later included into the band’s debut self-titled studio work.
Thus, the musicians’ very first long play Stone Sour was released in 2002, ten years after the band’s formation. Taylor found time to begin working on Stone Sour material in 2000, when he was busy performing in his second band Slipknot. Corey and Jim, who was also Slipknot’s member, made several demos and decided to reunite Stone Sour. Their album Stone Sour (2002) was critically acclaimed and the numerous heavy sound lovers enjoyed the rockers’ creativity as well. Moreover, the musicians got two Grammy Awards in a row in the category Best Metal Performance for the compositions Get Inside in 2003 and for Inhale in 2004.
The band’s second studio attempt titled Come What(ever) May was issued in 2006 and that record satisfied millions of fans’ expectations. Listeners had been looking forward to that long play, and many music lovers started their acquaintance with Stone Sour due to the famous song Through Glass, presented on Come What(ever) May. Also in 2006 the musicians got another Grammy Award for the song 30/30-150 in the category, which became familiar to them - Best Metal Performance.
Stone Sour’s long awaited third album Audio Secrecy saw the light in 2010. The rockers pleased their fans with the new sound, which became more melodic and darker at the same time. However Stone Sour managed to preserve the signature atmosphere that is so much loved by the listeners. Audio Secrecy is a great proof that Stone Sour members still have plenty of new ideas and that the band is going to keep on improving and rocking.
