September’s present to everyone in love with the dance pop music
The Swedish singer Petra Linnea Paula Marklund was born on the twelfth of September and starting her music career yet as a teenager she chose the pseudonym September quite easily. Just coming of age Petra started to record songs which soon resulted into her eponymous debut album released in 2004. September’s first successful single was the dancing world famous composition La La La (Never Give It Up). It was followed by the hit Satellites from the sophomore effort, In Orbit, released in two years after the debut but it was fifth single from that record, Cry For You which proved to be the most popular of all. This song can still be heard on European dance floors, and the singer’s 2009’s debut album in the United Kingdom was got its title from it. Due to the success of Cry For You, the whole world has been anticipating the release of September’s fourth studio creation which was put out on the St. Valentine’s day and became a great present to everyone in love with the dance pop music. The album Love CPR is a collection of vivid, emotional and good quality dance music most of the songs of which have all the chances to become new world hits making the Scandinavian singer’s career makes a significant step ahead and upwards.
Most positive impressions from Love CPR
The album Love CPR is September’s excellent, sometimes slightly hoarse voice, sounding against the background of danceable beats created by such producers as Jonas Von Der Burg, Stonebridge, Cutfather, Lucas Secon and others, as well as sparkling melodies and lyrics depicting parties alternating with reflecting on relationship, musician’s profession, loneliness. As before the singer offers her fans to get together in a dance marathon on which weak tracks are practically absent. The first single Mikrofonkat is the cover of Swedish singer Petter’s song which is why this composition has become incredibly popular in Petra’s native country. This memorable dance melody is really good, as well as it English language version Me And My Microphone which is the first international single off the album. Closer to the end of the record one can hear September and Petter’s collaboration on Baksmalla, on which the former’s vocals and the latter’s rapping join in a passionate dance duet. The album opener Party In My Head as well as the second single Resuscitate Me are both gorgeous club compositions. The soulful singing refines the amazing slow composition Walk Away, perfect for slow dancing and allowing one to take a little rest. Then we can go for it without stopping with such inflammatory numbers as Ricochet, Hands Up and especially Bump And Grind. The singer has given several great compositions in Swedish as bonus: Karlekens Tunga, Vem Ska Jag Tro Pa and the closer Teddybjornen Fredriksson. On the whole the album leaves the most positive impressions and will certainly become the main soundtrack at any party.
An album without failure tracks
Each of September’s albums including the previous one, 2007’s Dancing Shoes, can boast unforgettable mood filling each song – it is the celebration atmosphere even in sad break-up stories such as, for instance, the hit Cry For You. Then again, sincere sadness runs through some ballads in Petra’s repertoire and they always contrast with other tracks. The example on Love CPR is Walk Away, and one can find out from it that the singer is not always inclined to persuade herself that everything is fine and go dancing for sometimes she does get absorbed in feelings we all are familiar with. Nevertheless, the absolute majority of songs on Love CPR are finished club hits, and it is them that best demonstrate September’s ability to be strong, bright, and put all the emotions into loud, limitlessly expressive chorus. Actually you will not find failures among the album’s tracks, it is just that some songs are outstanding and others are simply good. Love CPR is definitely one of the year’s best dance albums, you are sure to hear these songs at parties this spring and summer more than once. We are only left to hope that September will give us her next album rather soon and that it will contain no less potential hits than the marvelous fourth creation does.
