Ashes & Fire review
Ryan Adams’ creative way
American musician, poet, producer and artist Ryan Adams got his well-deserved popularity due to his many-sided art. He works perfectly by his own and as a part of a team. Thus, Adam started his creative way in the band Whiskeytown, but by the year 2000 he left the band and got busy with his solo career. The same year he presented to listeners the debut studio attempt Heartbreaker, which had been recorded within only two weeks. However it proved to be critically acclaimed and music lovers also enjoyed the album a lot. A bit later Adams decided to continue his group activity and he united with the band The Cardinals. By that moment Ryan already had a good experience in the field of collaboration: the performer took part in the recording processes of such bands as Counting Crows, Weezer, Cowboy Junkies, Toots & the Maytals and many others. Curiously enough, he had always contributed a lot to the creation of this or that album – Adams’ unique style is universal, but at the same time it does not lose its originality and distinctive character. Alongside with The Cardinals the artist released five long plays, but in 2009 Ryan decided to take a break from the music and he left the group. His fans were not so happy to find out about that, but luckily, in autumn of 2010 Adams came back on the stage and announced that he had been working on his new album.
The bright album Ashes & Fire
Ryan Adams managed to find his style a long time ago – the musician loves both rock and country. And as the result, he got the interesting mixture of these genres. Bright and clear sound became the signature feature of Adam’s songs. Thereby, the album’s very first composition called Dirty Rain can be considered to be a perfect example of the performer’s style. It is followed by the major song Ashes & Fire, which demonstrates not just a rememberable melody, but also the outstanding vocal skills of Ryan. The musician is fond of lyrical moods as well: Come Home grips the attention due to its lyrics, first of all. Ryan is a wonderful poet, and his songs prove that perfectly. By the way, Adams also does not mind experimenting with the sound. Thus, the track Chains Of Love got quite a rock sound, but it did not lose the country charm too. In general the album did not bring any great surprises, and that is probably a good thing. The artist keeps on composing beautiful music, and he is not trying to adapt for new trends. Adams tells his touching and interesting stories with the guitars accompaniment – what else can we ask for? The creative development, maybe? Well, there are no problems with that too. The performer’s every single new work sound a bit more professional, than previous ones, which is quite logical, actually.
Listen to the lyrics
Ryan Adams is an artistic and many-sided person. Besides the music Ryan loves art and poetry, and of course his passion to poems found its place within his compositions. That is exactly why his songs are especially charming and fascinating. First of all, they do sound amazing and please listeners with outstanding arrangements. Also, every song is like a small story. The author definitely has something to share with fans, so make sure to pay special attention to the texts. Well, the record Ashes & Fire is a very interesting musical cocktail, and it does not really matter that it had been invited before. Rock and country in approximately equal volumes sound just excellent, and integration of these styles proved to be successful. The long play already took a notable place in the artist’s discography, so we can now assume that in the future we will have Ryan’s new, not less amazing works.
