How To Become Clairvoyant (Deluxe Edition) review

Robbie Robertson’s solo career

For millions of music lovers Robbie Robertson’s name is first of all associated with the legendary group The Band’s creativity. Rock, blues, folk – numerous styles were mixed in their art, which definitely became a wonderful school for young Robertson. He prepared the material for his debut studio self-titled attempt in 1987. The record turned out to be extremely successful and it won the prestigious Juno Award in the nomination The Album of the Year. Later Robbie’s art was acknowledged all around the world, and Rolling Stone magazine included Robertson into the list of 100 Best Guitarist of All Times. That issue is truly respected (for many reasons indeed), so all the questions about Robbie’s talent (if someone had some of these) became irrelevant. Meanwhile, the virtuoso’s fifth studio work titled How To Become Clairvoyant, which had been created with the help of many well-known musicians, was issued in 2011.

Solo album created by the team of professionals

It is not a secret that musicians are interested not only in professional growth and learning new techniques of singing or playing and so on. Collaborations with colleagues – that is what attracts attention of the beginners and of the mature professionals, one of which is Robertson, without any doubts. Thus, How To Become Clairvoyant is impressive not only due to the traditionally high level of performance, but also due to the quantity of guests: Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Trent Reznor, Tom Morello and other famous musicians took their part in the creation of How To Become Clairvoyant. Well, taking in consideration such a team, one should not question the quality of the long play. Indeed, right after it was released, listeners and critics could make sure that Robbie managed to record an incredibly strong work. Of course featuring musicians brought some charm, but Robertson’s style is really easy to recognize: interesting parts that create basis to compositions, nice arrangements and rememberable solos. The Right Mistake, Fear Of Falling and other songs present the whole diversity of rock: slow tracks with elements of blues are followed by more dynamic compositions. Moreover for those who got the special edition How To Become Clairvoyant - Deluxe Edition the musician prepared six additional songs. Alternative versions of tracks which were included into the album are a great bonus, aren’t they?

How To Become Clairvoyant: Robertson’s another masterpiece

Robbie Robertson is a legendary person. The musician whose name is well-known all around the world deserved his title of a real virtuoso for a reason. Robertson’s manner of playing is impressive and his musical intuition had never let him down. No wonder that it is interesting and honorable to work with Robbie, so many artists agreed to collaborate in no time. The time shown that it was definitely a great idea - How To Become Clairvoyant proved to be very strong. Robbie’s experience and talent are great proofs of the record’s success by themselves, but if we add his colleagues’ efforts – we will get How To Become Clairvoyant. Officially it is a solo album; nevertheless technically it is a result of the team of professionals’ work. Thus, the compositions will please music lovers with their uniqueness, originality and the level of performance. For all the connoisseurs of high quality music and art in general and for Robertson’s fans in particular, How To Become Clairvoyant is a great present that will become a great addition to any musical collection.
