Greatest Hits... So Far!!!
Compilation by P!nk released in 2010Greatest Hits... So Far!!! review
Pink always says what she thinks
One of the most noticeable contemporary pop-rock stars Pink has recently proved that she can be as wise in the words comprising her lyrics as in her real actions. Her latest album, 2008’s Funhouse, was devoted to her separation from her husband Cary Hart, the thematic songs bearing so much despair that the love seemed impossible to return. It was revealed later, however, that no divorce has ever taken place, going back to the dating period was part of the family saving strategy. The couple are certainly back together again, and Pink is expecting their first child. Such a turn definitely deserves to be marked by the splendid compilation Greatest Hits…So Far!!! Being a singer who always says what she thinks Pink has written a lot of stunning songs and today she is giving us the best of them. Her ever present themes are relationships she is concerned about at the moment, introspection or childhood reminiscences. Yet, most of all, the singer expresses her indignation concerning the equaling tendencies and stereotypes in the fields of fashion and show-business, and all these topics are covered on Greatest Hits…So Far!!!
All the hits and new compositions on Greatest Hits…So Far!!!
Popular artists’ compilations often disappoint their fans because of some hits lacking, and looking at the track list of Greatest Hits…So Far!!!, one cannot be pleased to find out that this is exactly the opposite case. The songs are not placed in a strict chronological order, but the earlier creations are at the beginning of the record. They are the opening great compositions from the 2001’s album Missundaztood: Get The Party Started, Don't Let Me Get Me, Just Like A Pill and Family Portrait – the debut single There You Go is hidden among them definitely losing in power compared to the aforementioned pieces. The least successful creation, 2003’s Try This is presented by its only hit Trouble, whereas the choice of tracks from the ten times platinum follow-up I’m Not Dead will definitely not disappoint the fans. The single Stupid Girls is still one of the artist’s calling cards for she has managed to express her opinion about the existing stereotypes in a very concise way. The same goes about the ballad Dear Mr. President featuring Indigo Girls. The relationship songs Who Knew, U + Ur Hand, Leave Me Alone (I'm Lonely), on the other hand, showcase Pink’s vulnerable side making up another obligatory part of the compilation. The album’s second half consists of the best moments of the latest work Funhouse and some new compositions, the true refinement to Greatest Hits…So Far!!! Bold and a bit aggressive hits So What, Sober, Bad Influence and Funhouse make a good contrast with the sad mid-tempo ballad Please Don't Leave Me and the emotional number I Don't Believe You. Finally the album ends with three great new compositions: Raise Your Glass and Fuckin' Perfect once again express the protest against modern society’s norms and rules, and the finale Heartbreak Down is a frank danceable love confession.
A wonderful New Year present
Pink’s debut album Can’t Take Me Home was released ten years ago, and listening to Greatest Hits…So Far!!!, you will find that the singer has reached a very high level in comparison to the earlier recordings. Her vocals are becoming more confident and powerful as she handles equally great with both ballads and more dynamic track. Pink has also recorded a well-known song Whataya Want From Me written for the American Idol contender Adam Lambert, and many will agree that her performance proves more successful and her vocals more suitable for the song. It is not surprising that the new singles have gone straight to the hit-parades tops right after being released and have immediately become anthems of millions of people sharing the singer’s beliefs. Thus the compilation Greatest Hits…So Far!!! symbolizes a chapter’s end in one of the most interesting singers of the present days’ life and will evidently serve a wonderful New Year present for your friends if they appreciate music of a good quality and worthy lyrics.
