Fall to Grace (Deluxe Edition) review

Paloma Faith and her bright and unpredictable creativity

Young British singer Paloma Faith knows how to surprise. She has already managed to work in various spheres, from theatre to cinema, and quite recently Paloma decided to make another serious step – she tried her strength and luck in the musical field. It turned out that this decision was total success, as soon as Faith’s debut record titled Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful? exceeded all the possible expectations. Critics highly evaluated not only the rich and original arrangements, but also Paloma’s impressive vocal skills. Her well-trained and strong voice can easily become an object of envy of many Fiath’s colleagues of musical industry. Thereby, the artist’s very first studio album got Platinum status in Great Britain, which is no doubt a serious claim for the future success and movement forward. Music lovers were really happy to welcome new talented performer, that is why Paloma found faithful fans almost in no time. They were looking forward to get a brand new studio attempt from the singer, and Faith prepared the new material by the year 2012. Thus, the second long play got the title Fall To Grace and it saw the light at the very end of spring. It is time to get acquainted with a new portion of bright hits!

Fall To Grace: a record, sustained in a united style

Paloma’s first album is well-remembered due to its inhomogenuity and distinctive character. What shall we expect from Fall To Grace? Will it become a logical continuation and development of Faith’s debut album? Let’s try to figure it out… The long play is opened by a composition Picking Up The Pieces, which is a great way to demonstrate the singer’s potential. The point is that its arrangement takes the music to the background, while Paloma’s vocals get the whole vast. The following song 30 Minute Love Affair will please lovers of pop-music and major melodies to remember. Black & Blue continues the theme of calm motives, which lets listeners enjoy beautiful and quite mid-tempo music. Meanwhile, Let Me Down Easy is a totally different track. It is pushing, but at the same time is it simply charming due to its relatively elegant arrangements. Thus, Let Me Down Easy will be definitely enjoyed by those, who do not really appreciate excessive digital processing. The composition Beauty Of The End will give lots of buzz – its amazing sound and lyrics cannot be ignored. Yes, Paloma Faith takes part in the creative process and neither music nor texts can pass without the singer’s approval. Thereby sincere performance is very logical: Faith knows that she is singing about, she feels it. Thus, she can surely be called one of the most honest artists.

Solid and serious record

In spite of the fact that Paloma Faith’s debut long play Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful? was critically acclaimed, it was rather unhomogeneous. Obviously the singer wanted to create her new album in a completely new way. New principles, and, as the result, new sound and long play. All in all Faith managed to create a solid work in one united style. It is not boring or dull, not at all. Instead, it is extremely stylish. Paloma started to choose serious themes for her songs more often, so no wonder that many tracks proved to be quite thoughtful and lyrical. Thereby Fall To Grace proved to be distant from its predecessor, which lets listeners make sure that Paloma was busy all this time since the release of her first record. She was searching for the unique sound, and it seems that the artist finally succeeded. As it was before, the vocals play the main role in Paloma’s songs, which is no doubt a good thing. Sure, the arrangements are worth attention as well, but still they are background, even the great one though. The long story short – if you enjoy rather calm pop-music with elements of electronica, then Fall To Grace is definitely your choice. The artist keeps on surprising listeners, and her surprises remain pleasant.
