Of Monsters and Men: young and promising band

The story of Of Monsters and Men began comparatively recently, in 2009, when its members decided to unite and to leave solo projects behind. Thus, experienced artists found common grounds in practically no time and shaped their course to the prestigious Icelandic talent competition - MЁІsЁЄktilraunir. This way, without wasting their time, Of Monsters and Men started the professional career. The line-up proved to be so successful that the musiciansЎЇ mutual understanding and every personЎЇs talents contributed to the groupЎЇs victory in the contest. Of Monsters and MenЎЇs start was very confident indeed and huge audience of the show enjoyed and highly appreciated interesting sound, presented by the band. Curiously enough, but the artists were eager to turn this very sound into something even more interesting, so with time the quartet became a sextette. Having finished completing the line-up, Of Monsters and Men went on a large tour in Iseland, and there is no need to say that they were welcomed everywhere. Thereby the band gained a great fan base and at the same time it managed to prepare excellent material that later was included into the debut EP titled Into The Woods in 2011. It warmed up the interest of music lovers to the creativity of Of Monsters and Men, and the rockers finally pleased them by releasing their first full-length and long awaited studio attempt titled My Head Is An Animal in 2012.

Of Monsters and Men made an immense job and recorded almost an hour of excellent music. The distinctive, easy recognizable and very bright rock from the Icelandic band will not be ignored by the true lovers of high quality and sincere music. Anyone can make sure of it just by listening to the very first composition of the album, Dirty Paws. Soft sound of acoustic guitar, fancy arrangement and charming vocal duo let us know that the performers certainly find the inspiration in indie-rock and folk-music. The following song called King And Lionheart is a logical continuation of the first track. Thereby Of Monsters and Men prepare listeners for their thoughtful and light rock, and then bring them more vivid composition Mountain Sound. Somehow it feels that this songЎЇs title has something special, something that will help to describe the bandЎЇs style in general. Actually, the sextetteЎЇs creativity has some incredible lightness and transparency, so peculiar for the mountain air. Very romantic Love Love Love is a good example of the music, which made Of Monsters and Men so loved and respected by so many listeners. Probably that sound cannot be called an innovation, but Icelandic rockers handle it in such a skillful way, that it does not seem to be possible to ignore it. Nevertheless, not the entire album is a space for lyrics only. My Head Is An Animal included pacey songs, such as Little Talks or Six Weeks. Various tempos and moods have been conquered by the rockers, that is why the album flows really smoothly, in one breath.

The charm of Iceland, expressed in notes

The world stage consists of musicians from various countries, and that is why it is called the world stage. However quantity of representatives of one state can be much bigger than the quantity of representatives of other country. In fact, there is no inequity in this situation, because as a rule, the quantity is usually compensated by the quality. Thus, there are no so many musicians from Iceland as there are from the shores of Albion. But citizens of northern island are not less bright or original than their colleagues from other countries. For example, the young band Of Monsters and Men appeared on the international stage just recently, but it has already established an outstanding reputation. The artists do not try to imitate anyone; instead they simply perform their unique music. It proves to be successful and, which is also important, very atmospheric. It feels that every single song is somehow filled with the light. It is Of Monsters and MenЎЇs debut studio attempt, but it is done in the highest level. Now the group will get fans far from the native land, there is no doubt about it.
