Noisettes is ready to surprise us once again

The London trio Noisettes is the vocalist and bassist Shingai Shoniwa, guitarist Dan Smith, and drummer Jamie Morrison, an utterly unique collective that started its way as a bright indie rock band and today has turned into a very attractive pop one. Although, undoubtedly, its music can by no means be called pure pop at least for the simple reason that the vocalist’s original and eccentric personality fills everything with its energy to such an extent that we are only left to wonder. There is much to wonder about it in fact. First, Shingai’s vocals combine everything essential to make the listener experience emotions and inspire him or her which often calls for comparisons with Diana Ross and Dionne Warwick. Second, her manner of performance always charges you with the positive mood, confidence and joyfulness. Besides the unbelievable number of tours the band performs independently and as a support act (for instance, with Muse) and the fact that releasing just one debut record What's the Time Mr. Wolf? the guys have signed with a major label is also amazing. This year Noisettes is ready to surprise us with its sophomore effort Wild Young Hearts.

Vocals play the leading role on Wild Young Hearts

Even though Noisettes has honestly warned everyone who heard its debut album that Wild Young Hearts could shock them each of these splendid 11 songs surprises, pleases and sometimes really rocks imagination. It goes without saying that it is Shingai’s vocals that play the leading role on all the tracks, yet the musicians’ playing should not be underestimated either. The album opens with a charming, very gentle and soft composition Sometimes refined with iridescent guitars. The title Wild Young Hearts is definitely one of those songs that are going to be played in every corner of the world this spring. Some easy-going lyrics combine with a moderately heavy instrumental background, memorable chorus and contagious percussion on it. A complicated, many faceted track 24 Hours conquers with impressive vocals offering some high notes and a most beautiful tune whereas Every Now And Then surprises with the text presenting a whole love story. An excellent danceable single Don't Upset The Rhythm is also one destined to become a hit especially taking into account the fact of its being the Mazda advertising video soundtrack. Another contagious composition Beat Of My Heart captivates with an unbelievable guitar solo while Never Forget You is remarkable for the most successful 80’s style rhythm a bit reminiscent of Duffy’s works. The song Saturday Night is once again pleasing with lightness marrying a catchy melody and the album closer is a calmer track Cheap Kicks taking us back to the mood at the beginning of the record, full of reflections flavored with some country elements just a little bit.

Happiness claims itself with Shingai’s inimitable voice

Such bands as Noisettes come rarely and at once occupy their own niche in the music world. They are sure to get the fans of a variety of genres from pop to rock to folk and country and hardly ever finish their eternal experiment with musical styles. As for its new album, whatever you may read or hear of it, the only right conclusion can be made only if you listen to this wonderful collection yourself as it seems to be meant to elate. On the whole the title Wild Young Hearts already speaks for itself if we consider the songs’ content. Mostly it tells of passion, love, breaking up, new love and of course dancing. Naturally the instruments and first of all the vocals give even more color, live and motion to all this joy. Thus Noisettes has made a record which is exclusively optimistic, and even on the saddest songs of which there are practically none here happiness is claiming itself out loud with the shining vocalist Shingai’s inimitable voice.
