Write It On Your Skin review

Newton Faulkner – a distinctive performer

Newton Faulkner started playing guitar a long time ago, when he was thirteen years old. Gradually he had been discovering a talent of a composer, and in 2005 the artist wrote an excellent soundtrack for a dynamic computer game TrackMania Sunrise. That step was just the first one in a career of a professional musician, so later he was invited several times to the studio of BBC Radio 2 in order to present his creations to listeners. However the big audience found out about Newton Faulkner in 2007, when he released the debut long play called Hand Built by Robots. That record was very well received by both experts and listeners, and its multiplatinum status says quite unambiguously about the rush the album had caused. Many lovers of original music and sincere attitude immediately felt in love with Faulkner’s songs and they were eager to get his new creations. The composer did not make them wait for a long time and he presented the second studio attempt titled Rebuilt by Humans only two years later, in 2009. Newton did not disappoint his fans this time as well. His distinctive and unique manner of guitar playing, charisma, talent and diligence took their toll – the number of Faulkner’s fans had increased by many times since Rebuilt by Humans release. Now it is time for another album Write It On Your Skin to make its contribution to this amazing artist’s career development.

New ideas on Write It On Your Skin

Newton’s two first albums are much more alike then their freshest disciple. Well, the third studio attempt was supposed to be different: Faulkner once stated that he had planned to create the long play Write It On Your Skin in a completely different way. Obviously, the singer has succeeded. Listeners are welcomed by a very positive and full of light composition with a little bit gloomy title Pulling Teeth, which provides a great opportunity to evaluate the vocalist’s outstanding skills. The following song Soon is a good example of Newton’s original manner of playing – this one can be hardly mixed up with someone else’s. Brick By Brick and Clouds, by the way, were built on the basis of guitar parts, and that is actually not a big surprise. After all, Newton is a truly marvelous composer, and be sure that if he prefers a guitar, he will be able to make it sound simply astonishing. Pick Up Your Broken Heart is another good example of guitar’s broad potentialities and its universal sphere of application. Also, the composer should get a proper respect, as soon as the arrangements are impressive. There are no useless details and everything is worked out just fine, but at the same time so important emotionality is not lost. These very emotions are one of the most important features of Newton’s songs. His honesty pleases listeners, so no wonder that listeners respond to him in the same way.

Good mood, imported from Great Britain

This is so great when there are musicians who can surprise and please listeners. Newton Faulkner’s unique manner of playing and performing and his inventiveness in writing incredibly interesting vocal parts played their role – the long play proved to be a total success. It certainly differs from the singer’s previous works, and actually it is good, because it is super useful for an artist to change and to keep on searching for the new shades of sound. Quite often this kind of quests brings amazing results. More vivacious and the way more positive Write It On Your Skin will be definitely enjoyed by Faulkner’s old fans, while connoisseurs of sincere music will unlikely ignore that studio attempt. It is worth mentioning that Deluxe version of Write It On Your Skin got six bonus tracks, and what tracks! These are acoustic versions of Newton’s best compositions, sung with an accompaniment of a guitar. Just the precise thing! All in all Write It On Your Skin will bring you a lot of positive emotions and it will let you have a rest from computer music. More live instruments, dear listeners!
