Playin' With Fire review

Natasha Thomas co-wrote 6 of the 15 tracks from her second album Playin’ With Fire

With so many young people clamoring for major label deals, standing in line for hours at casting shows and doing just about anything to get noticed, 19-year-old pop singer Natasha Thomas from Copenhagen, Denmark has done what most teenagers would consider to be the unthinkable. She kindly asked to be released from her worldwide recording contract with Sony Music. Shortly after she resigned her record deal, Natasha and her management found their own label Place on Fire. This is a move most people in their 30's would not have guts to do, but for Natasha"It just feels like the right things," she says without hesitation. Why? Because she wants to make her own decisions: what she is going to do, who she will work with, her future as an artist and singer, her musical direction and her self-determination as a woman. And she does that very thoroughly. She is choosing her producers, decides which titles will be on the CD, who will write the songs and who will perform with her and where. She co-wrote 6 of the 15 tracks from her second album Playin’ With Fire with her manager and vocal coach Ginger Mackenzie, herself a recording artist (4 albums released). She personally picked the other songs from several songwriters, decided what the video will be like and set the budget.

Natasha rocks like never before!

Even though the album was recorded in only 4 weeks in Berlin, the search for the songs was done worldwide over a period of 6 months! Natasha’s personal favorites are the energetic title song Playin’ With Fire from the Berlin hit-producer Taan Newjam, Curious with its catchy melody and the great beats, positive and very powerful State of Mind and a super groovy R&B pop song Secret. Eight songs were produced by Oliver Pinelli in his modern unique sound. Pinelli’s musicianship is shining through in the passion packed Diane Warren song I Don’t Need To, backed up by the Berlin based Viviology Gospel Choir. Oja Tunes were chosen to produce the old school R&B track Touched Another Girl and last but not least, one of Europe’s only female producers, Natalie Pho Duc alias Futah, was chosen for the classic power ballad Chasing Love. On her new album Playin’ With Fire Natasha rocks like never before!

Playin’ With Fire is filled with creativity and self-confidence

For the future Natasha wants to be successful with music she feels passionate about – and have a happy life for herself and her family. Speaking of her start, what a start it was! With her single Save Your Kisses For Me, released in 2004, the then 17-year-old Dane Natasha Thomas scored a hot hat-trick with her first releases. In the summer of 2003 the young singer's debut single Why (Does You Love Hurt So Much) went straight the top 40 of the German single charts, while her second single It's Over Now just missed breaking into the top ten, peaking at number twelve. And those who waited to see more of Natasha Thomas were in for treat. She was selected to represent one of the world's best-known and most important fashion label, Lacoste. The first single Skin Deep from Playin’ With Fire album, is the official song for the Lacoste perfume Touch Of Pink, and Natasha herself personally appears in the advert. Album Playin’ With Fire is filled with creativity and self-confidence of a young but truly not foolish singer. Playing with fire? Maybe yes, but very clever indeed.
