Respect M.E. review

An Absolute Hip-Hop Idol

Missy Elliott, being Missy Misdemeanor Elliott before 2003, is one of the best-selling hip-hop artists of the Hip-Hop Olympus. Aggressive, self-assured and absolutely professional as she is, she has released a long awaited album, a sort of overview of all of her creations. From the very start, back in the 90s, when, together with her pals from the neighborhood, she formed a group Sista, she has had her own way of presenting herself and delivering her music to us. Having her long-time buddy Timbaland at hand, first as a producer, later as a guest star, she has come a long way to the top, where she is now and is not going to give out an inch of her position. Missy Elliott was one of the four female rappers ever to write a platinum single. She is a rappers, a songwriter and a producer, 3-in-1, managing to perform superb in all the three fields. No wonder why she looks so content on the cover of her Respect M.E. – she is high above everybody in the music world on the back of her coal-black Friesian horse.

Album As An Overview

Respect M.E. seems to be Missy’s motto through life – from the moment of her appearance on the stage she has been doing everything to gain respect. The album has been released on September 4th, but only in Europe, which was really disappointing for everyone, respecting her talent back in America. It was Missy’s second album to get into the UK’s Top 10, having been rated #7 there. The album opens with a track that has made her popular world-wide – Get Ur Freak On, with amazingly stylish rhymes and beats, of which she is an absolute master. The video to the single is twice as stylish – Missy wearing camouflage and stretching her neck like a giant python is eye-catching. Indeed, she’s “the hottest round”. The album also features a Basement Jaxx house remix of her 4 My People, a track that is a must for every DJ on every dance party. It was a tremendous success in Europe and America and it is still capable of blowing up the dance floor. Respect M.E. also features some of the earlier hit singles – Beep me 911, The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly), also such hits as One Minute Man, Work it, Loose Control and Gossip Folks.

Missy’s Multifaceted Talent

Missy Elliott’s creative productivity is something to be envious about. She has released 7 albums over the last 9 years, which is a sign of the great positive energy that moves her on. She is one of the most demanded songwriters – Melanie B, Aaliyah, 702, Total, Ciara, Nicole Wray Tweet, Destiny’s Child – Missy has penned undeniable hits for all of them. No wonder every single album of hers is stuffed with hits. Moreover, counting how many times she was nominated and how many awards she has received would be as time-consuming as trying to list all the epithets given to her music by critics all over. Respect M.E. features such guest stars as Ludacris, Ciara, Lil’ Kim, Da Brat, which is one more ground for buying the CD. It is a quality rap that has no match and the record is worth having at hand – it can definitely give you the positive vibe and inspire you to look at life the way Missy does it – totally self-respecting and firmly self-assured. Missy has received respect from all over the world, so it was, actually, unnecessary to name a record this way – she is a big shot and you have nothing else to do but respect her.
