E=MC
Studio Album by Mariah Carey released in 2008E=MC review
Mariah Carey's voice has preserved its charm and power
Releasing three years ago her successful album The Emancipation of Mimi, one of the worlds best selling pop divas Mariah Carey has practically returned her former glory and although the peak of her popularity has been in the 90's of the last century in this one she does not let us forget about her not even for a minute. It may be that her voice does not sound that sonorously any more but neither a nervous breakdown nor some failure albums have become a tragedy for Mariah but helped her discover new inner forces that were right there to assist her on recording a new work E=MC2. Such an interesting name is the physical formula known to everyone from the school program in which the singer's initials are enciphered. The album certainly is not worse than its predecessor both in the respect of the songs' quality and Carey's performance while her voice has still preserved all of its charm and power. At the same time tracks on E=MC2 are even franker and the lyrics is remarkable for interesting thoughts and reveals the diva's new sides.
The majority of tracks on E=MC2 is dedicated to relationships
It goes without saying the first thing you appreciate while listening to E=MC2 is Mariah's voice that is able to sound sensual, rude, passionate and gentle. The next is the production due to which the R&B compositions get more danceable and ballads more impressive. Naturally the absolute majority of tracks is dedicated to relationships both current and of the past, lucky and too lucky. The album opens with Migrate featuring T-Pain, the song that is sure to become a new hit for it is both melodious and radio friendly, while Touch My Body is a ready made club hit. Carey tries her hand at reggae on Cruise Control performed with Damian "Junior Gong" Marley and actually sounds not that bad, while I'm That Chick is once again a song for the hot club parties. The lyrics on compositions like I Stay In Love, For The Record, Love Story and I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time demonstrate the singer's view on relationship which is her belief in giving all of herself to the one she loves, while a beautiful song Side Effects on which Mariah is joined by Young Jeezy tells of a failed relationship, and here the singer confesses of her vulnerability. Different from all the other tracks is Bye Bye devoted to the singer late father and addressed to anyone who has lost someone one loved, and the closer I Wish You Well catches its mood to some extent being refined with cites from the Bible, here Mariah wishes well to the ex boyfriend with whom it didn't work.
An idol and a real R&B diva
Today when there are 18 years of career behind Mariah's shoulders and until recently the falls have prevailed in it the luck has once again turned its face to her. For young pop artists such as Beyonce and Rihanna who rule the ball these days Mariah still remains an idol, a real R&B diva whose songs do not leave the world charts so far. The singer's example shows that one should never fall into despair and that the failures gradually bring one to new heights. Her belief in herself that found reflection in the name of E=MC2 has once again proved to be a great ally, besides the participation of such producers as Swizz Beatz and и Danja in the work on the record has become the guarantee of its commercial success. Since the previous album E=MC2 offers several hits at once so one can have no doubt that when the artist returned to R&B three years ago she made a right choice and now her songs are once again known to everyone. As for us we are only left to wish her good luck in the future as well.
