Hurry Up, We're Dreaming
Studio Album by M83 released in 2011Hurry Up, We're Dreaming review
French music by M83
France is famous for its wine, cuisine, resorts and music. And every year the music from that country turns into more diverse one, from hip-hop to electronica. Thus, the band M83 contributes to the development of indie-rock scene of France. The band was formed at the very beginning of that century and it already pleased listeners with numerous amazing albums: the eponymous M83 of 2001, Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts of 2003 and other records were really enjoyed by music lovers. Usually it took the band two years to prepare the material for their brand new long play and to record it. However the band’s previous album Saturdays = Youth saw the light in 2008, which means that this time M83 decided to get involved into a recording process in a more elaborated way. The musicians presented their new creation titled Hurry Up, We're Dreaming in autumn of 2011, and everybody understood that three-years waiting was absolutely worth it. The French performers prepared the huge double album, and that means that listeners will get twenty two tracks with the total length of more than an hour. It definitely must be mentioned that the musicians remained faithful to their style – electronica in combination with guitars and rememberable melodies – listeners will enjoy it in full volume.
Hurry Up, We're Dreaming – an impressive album
The musicians of M83 did not change their signature style; however they enjoyed the process of experimenting with the sound a lot. Features that were enjoyed by listeners on Saturdays = Youth will be found on Hurry Up, We're Dreaming as well, but in a little bit different shape. The band added new elements, so finally they got an excellent crossover. The introductory track Intro, recorded alongside with Zola Jesus, sounds brightly and prepares listeners for the long play, full of pure energy. Compositions of M83 include a great volume of electronic music, just as it has always been and Midnight City, Claudia Lewis and other tracks will be perfect examples of that approach. Some songs actually sound spacey – they turned out to be so distant from indie-rock or even pop music. While such tracks as Train To Pluton or Year One, One UFO state quite categorically that the theme of space is close for the artists. Hurry Up, We're Dreaming will please fans not only with the quality of the songs, but also with their quantity. Also each of them has its own unique mood, so everybody will be able to find and choose the soundtrack for a certain day.
Confident step forward
There is no doubt that M83 can write outstanding songs. The band already issued a great number of good albums, but it feels that it is Hurry Up, We're Dreaming that has become something essentially new, something, which can take the band to the new level. Many experts agreed that the new long play of the French musicians became their best work and achievement so far, and actually it will be difficult to argue about it. Twenty two tracks – this is serious, this is a result of an immense three years work. And the whole album has not a single average composition. All of them, from Intro to Outro have individuality and they cannot be mixed up. M83 fans had to wait for Hurry Up, We're Dreaming for three years, but the result satisfied all the expectations and even more. Mysterious atmosphere of a new record is simply amazing, and it seems that M83 will get more and more fans after each release of their new album. Well, this is surely a well-deserved result.
