Lasers review

Fiasco is just a pseudonym

Long five years passed since the moment of Lupe Fiasco’s debut album titled Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor release. At this period the musician managed to achieve many things and to establish a reputation of an extremely talented and original musician, who amazed listeners not only by the bright debut, but also by outstanding performances. Lupe Fiasco’s creativity was acknowledged both by listeners and by colleagues from music industry. One day Jay-Z appraised Lupe's potential and helped him to sign a contract with the label, by which the young performer got the pass to the Premiere League. The rapper got the prestigious Grammy award in 2008, and that definitely became a wonderful proof of the success that he was eager to get and on which he had been working so hard. Thus, Lupe’s third long play entitled Lasers was presented to the audience in spring of 2011 and that studio attempt definitely satisfied fans’ expectations.

Lasers, with «A»

Lupe Fiasco does not miss a single thing while dealing with his creativity, and one can make sure of it only by checking out a cover of new the long play. Not a play of words, but a play of letters – that is the thing that attracts attention first of all. It is impossible to miss a rebel A among the elegant neon symbols – freedom always has been the major vector of the musician’s art, and is still remains the same. The very first track Letting Go recorded jointly with Sarah Green creates the right mood and introduces the renewed sound. In general Lasers abounds with collaborations with MDMA, John Legend, Trey Songz and other famous artists, which definitely adds some charm to the record. Thus, composition Words I Never Said, featuring Skylar Grey’s vocals, became one of the strongest songs of Lasers. Lupe always pleased fans with interesting lyrics, and his third long play did not become an exception. Its sound, that will fit clubs atmosphere very well, harmonically matches with Lupe’s texts – they are still of the highest level. Numerous experts agreed that the artist is not chasing after ordinary rhymes, so every song presents a whole complete story. The rapper always had ideas that he enjoyed sharing with listeners; thereby State Run Radio, Beautiful Lasers (2Ways) and other compositions will prove that perfectly. All in all, Lasers’ songs are compiled in such a amazing way that the album is listened to in one breath.

Lupe Fiasco's laser show

The studio attempt Lasers peaked at the very top of Billboard 200, leaving behind not less interesting works of other artists. There is no doubt that this record was really expected and people truly became upset after finding out about another release being delayed. They just waited and re-listened to the artist’s two albums. It is worth mentioning that experience of these long plays and an incredible intuition let Lupe do everything just perfect: delicate, elaborated arrangements, rememberable vocal parts and collaborations with various musicians were enjoyed by Lupe Fiasco’s old fans and by those who have only recently got acquainted with his creativity. Lasers became the logical development of the rapper’s ideas by absorbing all the best from Food & Liquor and The Cool and took the notable place in the artist’s discography.
