Liberation Transmission is very different from Lostprophets’ previous creations

Liberation Transmission is the third album of the Welsh quintet Lostprophets after their debut Fake Sound Of Progress and the very successful platinum Start Something produced by famous Bob Rock known to the majority of people for his work with such rock icons as Metallica and Motley Crue. The album is very different from Lostprophets’ previous creations for it’s been a little bit influenced by the 1980s, which nevertheless makes it sound up-to-date and British. The key topics of Liberation Transmission are the protest against the common, a strong desire to get rid of all possible limitations and complete impatience at times bordering with rage. Front man Ian Watkins’ vocals have become more powerful and varied whereas the musicians’ playing has evidently developed and changed for the better. The suitable piano parts, more original guitar sounds and shouting back vocals differ the album from Lostprophets’ other works. The first single Rooftops has already won the public acclaim and the British radio has made sure that everyone heard it. Just one single, however, is not at all enough to get a clear idea what the new Lostprophets’ work is like nor can it be judged by listening to the first two albums only.

Liberation Transmission is recorded in the best traditions of the genre

The most typical feature of Liberation Transmission is that all the songs are really catchy, but in spite of that each of them has its own particular traits. Everyday Combat opens the album with a bit aggressive screaming note, while the following Town Called Hypocrisy is defined for the great sophisticated guitar chords. The fast New Transmission with a very powerful chorus is a brilliant rock track just as the angry and impatient Can't Stop, Gotta Date With Hate. Broken Hearts, Torn Up Letters And The Story Of A Lonely Girl is notable not only for its long title but for the catchy melody and passionate love lyrics. The most outstanding songs of Liberation Transmission are Rooftops, definitely the catchiest one, and Everybody's Screaming!!! which makes everyone scream from elation and sing along with the lads. 4:Am Forever can turn out one of the best rock ballads you have ever heard and the track Can't Catch Tomorrow (Good Shoes Won't Save You This Time) has a nice pop rock flavor. Liberation Transmission is recorded in the best traditions of the genre and as any classic rock album closes with another beautiful ballad Always All Ways (Apologies, Glances and Messed Up Chances) whose genius musical background and sensitive Watkins’ vocals awoke the strongest emotions and the lyrics remind of your most worrisome romances.

Lostprophet’s best album

During the recent two years there has been a couple of changes in the band’s staff – drummer Mike Chiplin left the band in 2005 and was substituted for by John Freese, and another drummer, Ilan Rubin, was invited for the tour which took place in April, 2006. Still no matter what changes occur within Lostprophets they keep on working really hard. Earlier for some people there was little difference between France Ferdinand, Lostprophets and The Killers in questions of the music and vocals. With their third work the Welsh four has proved the world that they are unique. On their new creation Lostprophets sound more professional even with those pop traits for which the guys are criticized. Actually these changes have made Liberation Transmission considerably different from everything they have done before it and due to the album the band has acquired an absolutely incomparable sound. Their front singer has trained well enough to make his voice more powerful than ever and the musicians rehearsed a lot to achieve a perfect harmony between Ian Watkins’ vocals and the accompaniment. The result of this preserving effort is a great success of Liberation Transmission, which has become Lostprophet’s best album. The only thing you would probably dream of after hearing it is a chance to see the whole band in the flesh.
