Labrinth found the way to the stage quite fast

The British musician and producer Labrinth (real name Timothy McKenzie) became one of those performers, who fond the way to the stage in practically no time. The point is that the future artist in his childhood understood clearly what he had wanted to achieve and what he had to do to succeed in it. In fact, he was quite fortunate to get a good portion of luck: McKenzie was to become a producer at Syco label; however its owner, Simon Cowell, decided that Timothy should be signed as an artist. The time showed that this decision was a good one, as soon as the musician managed to realize his potential as a producer and as a performer as well. And all these achievements came true in spite of Labrinth’s age: he is only twenty three years old! Actually, he has been familiar with the elaborated and creative process of music writing since fifteen. The richness of electronic sound of Electronic Earth

Labrinth’s debut studio attempt included only ten tracks, and it is not such a big number, after all. However for the beginning it is enough, especially if we pay attention to the fact that all the songs are original and every single of them makes its contribution to the general mood of the record. The composition Climb On Board was honored to open the entire album. This act starts with a cappella singing, which gradually gathers pace and obtains mass of sound. Those who have not got acquainted with Labrinth’s creativity yet, will immediately understand that the artist can handle all the richness of digital benefits and opportunities in a skillful way. Then goes not less energetic song Earthquake, which also combines the pushiness of electronic sound and powerful beat. Labrinth's songs produce strong effect and impress with the arrangements’ elegancy. In spite of the great number of sounds and all kinds of digital effects, it still seems that everything is just on its place. And actually this is true: Express Yourself, Sundown and other tracks prove it perfectly. Electronic music or new wave of rhythm and blues?

All in all the studio attempt produces a strong effect, but at the same time it does not give a certain answer for the question: what is Labrinth’s main genre? Maybe there is simply no straight answer, as soon as the musician has not decided it by himself yet. And why limiting oneself? The musical intuition lets the British artist create songs that have truly diverse moods, from extremely energetic tracks like Treatment to surprisingly lyrical compositions, such as Beneath Your Beautiful and Vultures. The young performer has got lots of fresh ideas and he wants to demonstrate his energy, and that is definitely a great thing. Also he does not forget to show to listeners his other creative side, and it is in the first place interesting, and in the next place it helps to demonstrate the impressive opportunities of the promising artist. Labrinth worked on his debut record really well, and the result proved to be rather logical and deserved: Electronic Earth was critically acclaimed, while listeners were pleased by high quality mix of rhythm and blues, hip-hop and electronic extravaganza.
