The Best Of
Compilation by Kylie Minogue released in 2012The Best Of review
Many-sided Kylie Minogue
There is a good saying that a talented person is talented in everything. Kylie Minogue is a truly many-sided and creative personality. She was talked about for the first time in the middle of the eighties of previous century, when Minogue was starring in the TV series called Neighbours. Curiously enough, but Kylie managed to fulfill her performing potential due to this very sitcom. At a charitable event Minogue sang a song Locomotion, and it was so well received by the audience that later it was issued as a single. In fact, it even got to the very top of a chart and spent there almost two months. It was pretty good and promising for the beginning, wasn’t it? Thus it was not a surprise that soon after that Kylie was offered a contract, and a young artist decided to take this amazing opportunity. Thus, she presented to listeners her debut studio attempt titled Kylie (1988), which got the multiplatinum status. Well, the time showed that Kylie is not one of those performers, who deal only with one or two hits. The singer released a good number of excellent albums, singles and compilation albums. In 2012 her discography was enlarged by a new compilation, dedicated to Minogue’s twenty-fifth year of professional musical career. Meet her new creation - The Best Of!
The Best Of – impressive compilation
Well, what do the listeners expect from their favorite artist’s best works compilation? Of course, they want to get time-tested hits and blockbusters that do not annoy and do not lose their topicality. Thereby The Best Of brings an amazing opportunity to Kylie Minogue’s fans to enjoy (or rediscover maybe?) the artist’s best creations. The first place on the album is taken by one of Kylie’s easy recognizable compositions - Can't Get You Out Of My Head. This one is followed by an outstanding dance act called Spinning Around, which got a rememberable bass part. This is an ideal combination of low frequencies and dance beat for dance floors. That composition was presented for the first time on the singer’s album titled Light Years more than ten years ago, however it still sounds rather up to date. Also, the compilation included the track I Should Be So Lucky, which was among the very first songs of Kylie and it appeared back in 1988. Of course it feels that its arrangements is performed in the best traditions of the eighties, but the song only wins with that – original sound (especially in aspects of modern standards and cliches) has never done any harm to anyone. All in all the list of The Best Of songs proved to be very solid. Obviously it was quite a demanding labor to find the precise composition out of the entire variety of Minogue’s songs. That is why the album has got such a strong character, even in spite of the fact that some tracks are distant from each other by decades. Thus, for example, The Loco-Motion appeared in 1987, while Get Outta My Way was presented to listeners in 2010. This is amazing, but within the limits of that compilation they somehow complement each other.
The best works of several decades
Compilation albums include well-known to listeners compositions, which is incredibly logical, so the artist and his creative crew must apply lots of forces in order to make the compilation disc fascinating and interesting to listen. To achieve that they simply have to analyze all the singer’s songs and choose the ones that are still demanded and truly called-for. Kylie Minogue had a wonderful reason to prepare the compilation indeed – she has been performing for twenty five years now, and she has always been doing it with a sincere dedication and passion. That may bring nothing but music lovers’ recognition, positive reviews from experts and numerous prestigious awards and nominations. Such a fancy jubilee cannot be ignored, and Minogue released a good compilation, to the great joy of her listeners. Nevertheless, Kylie is not going to stop, there is no doubt about it. Her studio attempts always please music lovers with fresh ideas, so that means that we shall not be worried about creative standstill. Compilations are great indeed, but still connoisseurs of good pop-music will be looking forward to get the Australian singer’s brand new album.
