On A Mission review

Katy B’s professional approach

Katy B is a young singer from the United Kingdom; however it is possible to state that she has no lack of experience at all. She performed a lot in London and she knows very well the essence of dubstep, funk, R&B and many other musical genres. Moreover, Katy B is a graduate of The London School for Performing Arts & Technology (BRIT School), and this is quite a statement, indeed. The very fact that she entered this school is a big thing by itself, as soon as it is difficult to become a student of BRIT School. Many of its graduates managed to make themselves known: Katie Melua, Amy Winehouse and others are known by millions of listeners all around the world. Well, it seems that it is Katy B’s time to show her paces.

On A Mission: the mission is possible

Katy B has been collaborating with London underground producers and musicians since fifteen. Thus, she had a chance to work in various genres, from house to dubstep, which is really called-for nowadays. The singer was gaining the priceless experience, and by 2010 she impressed listeners with rather powerful single Katy On A Mission. Mesmerizing bass combined perfectly with the artist’s vocals, which definitely played its role in the song’s way to the top of two British charts: dance chart and indie chart were conquered by Katy B. Inspired by this success, she began working on her long play. In 2011, On A Mission was released and it made an impression that it had been created from songs from different genres and styles. This record is opened by the pop-song Power On Me that is followed by a loud dub-hit Katy On A Mission. Immediately after acquaintance with these two tracks music lovers understand that they would find lots of surprises on the album, not average compositions. However, original rhythm and beat of Why You Always Here completely prove that theory. Katy B presented a cocktail of various songs that are not alike. Of course you have to choose if it is good or not, but there is no doubt that On A Mission will become Katy B’s easy recognizable trademark. The artist proved once and for all that her creativity is not limited by borders of these or that styles.

Twelve elements of On A Mission

The record On A Mission includes twelve tracks that differ from each other, but at the same time they are united by the general concept. Moreover, the singer’s voice became a sort of a link between these songs. Katy B sounds confident in every single composition, no matter what genre it presents. The working experience with underground musicians played its role – the singer orients very well in a variety of genres, from house to funk and that is definitely a trump card. The studio attempt On A Mission turned out to be solid in spite of its inner diversity, but the main thing is that it demonstrates Katy B’s talent, who gained lots of fans pleased by her creativity. Thereby the music lovers will simply enjoy the artist’s debut album On A Mission, wait for her following releases and try to guess what kind of surprises and experiments she will present the next time.
