Jordin Sparks review

The inborn winner

Jordin Sparks was born into a family of former American football player Phillippi Sparks in 1989 in Phoenix, Arizona. No wonder that the passion for competing and strive for the victory are in the nature on this girl. From the early beginnings Jordin had a talent for music and acting, demonstrating this quality without any shyness. The parents helped their gifted child in all possible ways, while Jordin took one first prize after the other, sparkling in theatre plays. Well, the girl gave her parents all the firm grounds to be proud of her. In 2002, Jordin became Coca Cola's Rising Star. In 2004, she took the first prizes in the musical competitions of Gospel Music Association Academy and Music In The Rockies and made two appearances in the show America's Most Talented Kids. In 2006, Jordin won a model-search tournament by Torrid and a photo session with Jordin decorated the December issue of the Seventeen magazine. Around the same time Sparks auditioned for the American Idol, becoming a winner of Arizona Idol tour. In 2007, she became the youngest winner of this prestigious competition. All this is a rather impressing list of victories for a 17-year-old girl, isn't it? Striking iron while it is hot Jordin released her eponymous debut album in November, 2007.

Jordin Sparks: a good start of a solo career

The debut work by Jordin was greatly contributed by the work of professional composers and producers, as it often happens in cases like this. But what is really important, the bright identity of the young singer can be felt in every track. Besides, Jordin does not try to look older than she actually is. The wonderful love song Young And In Love perfectly illustrates it. The lyrics of the composition is sparkling with innocence and sincerity, while the rhythmical handclaps and the sticking in the memory chorus are sure to sound in the heads of the listeners for the whole day, reminding by this quality of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the beginning of their careers. There is nothing strange in it as Jordin Sparks was worked out at Jive - the studio, where Britney has recorded all her discs. Among other potential hits should be undoubtedly noted already released singles Tattoo and This Is My Now. Tattoo appeared to be a stylish R&B installment with the catchy melody on the album, while the ballad-like This Is My Now demonstrates the artist's singing and acting potential in all its strength. No Air became the only, though extremely expressive duet by Jordin with her former contestant Chris Brown. No doubt, that Shy Boy, reminding of creativity of young Prince, can be called one of the most winding tracks on the disc. God Loves Ugly is one of the most powerful ballads on the work.

The promising debut

As it was noticed earlier, Jordin sparks is only 17 and she does not try to create an excessively mature image. Her debut disc is one of the rare examples of pop-releases where the singer is not naked on the cover. This record also does not feature tabooed and too sexually oriented words and expressions, which makes it suitable for the widest array of auditory. Ideally, this full-length can be listened to with the whole family. What is also of great importance is the fact that at the show American Idol Jordin was one of the few, who had the personal character, in spite of her sweet age - everyone remembered this cute, cheerful girl, full with the desire to conquer everyone's affection. This image, so much adored by the public, can be easily felt on this album by any listener even if he or she saw not a single series of the program. Approximately the half of the disc is filled with romantic ballads, while the other half is represented by cute R&B, radiating with energy and good mood. Fast melodies, fulfilled in R&B stylistics, make the same enchanting and mesmerizing impression that is noticeable in hits sang by Shakira and Beyonce. This is reasonable, as Jordin Sparks features tracks written by the authors that collaborated not only with two these divas, but also with Ne-Yo, James Blunt and other celebrities. After such a promising debut one can only expect from Jordin further works of the same quality.
