Cole World: The Sideline Story review

The beginning of a great way

J. Cole was born in Germany, but he was raised in the United States – his family moved to North Carolina when J was not even one year old. He became interested in hip-hop when he was fourteen, and it turned out that this hobby became his lifestyle. Cole enjoyed the play of words, rhymes and the very possibility to tell whole stories in that way. He covered many notepads with lyrics and once he was presented the rhythm-machine, which could create the beats. Thereby seventeen-years old Cole began presenting his tracks on various forums. He released the very first mixtape The Come Up Mixtape Vol. 1, which he had recorded completely by his own, in 2007. A bit later the young performer even met Jay-Z. But actually it was not very surprising – Cole was going straight to his aim, and he took inspiration in works of many performers. However he was mostly impressed by the art of Canibus and Eminem. With the support of famous and respected producer Jay-Z – he really enjoyed the composition Lights Please, J. Cole got a contract with the label Roc Nation and released his second mixtape The Warm Up. It was followed by the third compilation titled Friday Night Lights. And finally the performer’s full-length studio attempt saw the light in 2011.

The long-awaited Cole World: The Sideline Story

Probably that album is long-awaited indeed. Even in spite of the fact that Cole World: The Sideline Story is Cole’s first studio long play, people had been waiting for it. The rapper did a great move – he made listeners interested in his creativity with the help of high-class mixtapes and also he demonstrated everyone that he was capable of creating outstanding compositions. Well, the debut album includes sixteen songs – the rapper had prepared thoroughly indeed. The long play is opened by a melodic introduction track Intro, just as it is supposed to be. This one is followed by an energetic and punchy Dollar And A Dream III. That mid-tempo composition lets you give a nice warm-up for your acoustic system. And all those lucky ones who have powerful speakers will have an excellent opportunity to test them – J. Cole presented amazing, thick and strong sound. Also the album included the song Lights Please, which had been so much enjoyed by Jay-Z. Now everybody has a chance to check it out. By the way, the famous producer himself took part in the recording process of the album – Cole prepared the track Mr. Nice Watch with Jay-Z. But the latter was not the only invited musician: the studio attempt is also featured by Trey Songz, Drake and Missy Elliott.

J. Cole can do a lot

J. Cole managed to establish a reputation of a talented and devoted to the music performer. He made a long way to his aim, and when he achieved some of his targets, he never forgot to find new ones. Nowadays mixtapes are left behind, as soon as Cole got an excellent opportunity to work in the studio – the highest league welcomed its new member. And it is definitely worth mentioning that the rapper’s debut proved to be successful indeed. And what is even more important – it turned out to be confident. Actually, is it a surprising thing after all? Probably it is not – J. Cole has not been separated with music for many years, and he has a good experience in writing and recording songs. However sixteen compositions of Cole World: The Sideline Story demonstrated just a part of Cole’s potential – there are always new targets to be achieved. With the support of professionals the promising rapper has all the chances to become one of the best young artists. Well, his following album will show, which direction was chosen by the musician as the next stage.
