Interpol
Biography
American rock band Interpol was formed in the end of the previous millennium in New York. The founders of that group are guitarist and vocalist Daniel Kessler and drummer Greg Drudy who quitted Interpol in 2000. Later they were joined by lead singer Paul Banks and bassist and keyboarder Carlos Dengler, who recently left the band in 2010. After Drudy’s departure his place was taken by Sam Fogarino. Thus, nowadays Interpol is a trio, but the musicians manage to create an incredibly strong and original sound.
The rockers’ debut studio attempt titled Turn On The Bright Lights was released in 2002 and it was critically acclaimed. Numerous music lovers really enjoyed that record and its wonderful atmosphere. The famous musical magazine NME included Turn On The Bright Lights into the list of Best Albums of 2002 to the tenth place, and it perfectly proved the highest level of Interpol’s debut long play. The band’s second album entitled Antics (2004) was released two years later and it turned out to be as interesting as its predecessor: the musicians managed to preserve the mood and atmosphere that had been presented in Turn On The Bright Lights.
The third studio attempt Our Love To Admire was issued in 2007 and the quality of the whole record became better. However the signature sound was preserved as well as the atmosphere, which was so much enjoyed by the fans. Numerous musical experts agreed that Our Love To Admire was definitely one of Interpol’s best works so far, and the musicians showed all their skills and talent on that record. Of course, there is always a possibility to improvement: the fourth self-titled long play Interpol was released in 2010. That album got excellent reviews from the critics, who noted the bright arrangements, powerful sound and the very atmosphere of Interpol. It is possible to say that the very atmosphere is one of the most important elements of Interpol's creativity, and it is quite difficult to describe. And is it necessary to describe it? One should feel it; furthermore the quality of the material is unquestionable: the musicians got the reputation of extremely talented performers a long time ago, and their every new album proves that perfectly.
