Biography
The legendary guitarist Robert William Gary Moore, better known for music lovers from all around the world as Gary Moore was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in 1952. At the age of eight Moore got the acoustic guitar and started learning the art of playing. Curiously enough he began playing the standard guitar in spite of the fact that he was the left-handed person. Soon after that he got the electro guitar, which became his permanent companion. Inspired by music of The Beatles and the king of rock&roll Elvis Presley, Gary mastered his skills and established his unique and easy recognizable manner of playing.
Moore’s musical career began with participation in school band Granny’s Intentions, which was followed by more serious group Skid Row, which released two albums. Folk-band Dr. Strangely Strange was the next stage for the musician, and finally the legendary band Gary Moore Band was formed in 1973. The same year they issued their first long play Grinding Stone (1973). With its help Gary Moore Band managed to make a loud debut, while Gary established a reputation not only of a talented guitarist, but also of real front man. The number of Gary’s fans grew up every year, which was not a surprise: bright compositions and the musicians’ sincerity were enjoyed by the listeners indeed. Strong album Corridors Of Power saw the light in 1982 and it became one of the rockers’ best studio attempts.
Time went by, nevertheless Gary’s love and passion for music remained the same, and great number of powerful creations prove that perfectly. Among them there is a successful record Still Got The Blues (1990). The eponymous song Still Got The Blues became one the musician’s most recognizable signature tracks. Gary started the twenty-first century with great long plays: Power Of The Blues (2004), Old New Ballads Blues (2006), Close As You Get (2007) and others. He decided to go back to his well-tried style that is so much loved by listeners all around the world: this is an extremely energetic music, but at the same time it is very melodic and sensitive, with the permanent elements of blues.
Moore’s last studio work titled Bad For You Baby was issued in 2008. The legendary musician and virtuoso guitarist Gary Moore died of a heart attack on 6th of February of 2011 at the age of 58. During his long career he created a huge number of hits that deserved the right to be called classics of world’s rock music. Moore’s albums are united by the artist’s unique style, and if you are just going to enjoy the atmosphere of blues, the problem of choice should not occur: all the maestro’s records are of the highest quality.
