Sleep Is for the Week review

Fantastically talented and purposeful Frank Turner

Frank Turner is a British rising star, whose creative career began to turn out long time ago. Having organized with his friends a new group Million Dead, Frank Turner was occupied with interested business for himself. He began to sing his own unique music. Combination of guitars, percussion instruments and hoarse voices were borne very good results. Million Dead became a very popular in the British youth circles. But in 2005 Frank Turner broke the hearts of music lovers across the country when he announced that the Million Dead “is the part of the music history”. Since that time, the young man was left to his own resources. Frank thought, he was strolling about the dark streets of his own town and tried to find new sensations inside himself. He took the guitar, wrote new music and reflected on the distant and brilliant future. It took two years for Frank Turner to understand his aims in life; to understand that music is his only one vocation, that it is the best that people can find in the world. In 2007 was released the debut album of Frank Turner, Sleep Is For The Week. In contrast to Frank’s previous work (Million Dead), his new sounding is more light and bright in the voice and in the music.

Each song on the album Sleep Is For The Week has its own story

It seems that Sleep Is For The Week is not the debut record of a young singer, but is the collection of hits from the mature, experienced music star, working in his style all his life. Sleep Is For The Week is the music that is clear for everybody. Frank Turner is singing about the banal things: love, jealousy, family, job, and friends. Ladies Of London Town is a tale about the obstacles, which contemporary knight can meet on the way to the women. But on the new album listeners can find more vital themes such as the theme of “fathers and sons” in the compositions Father’s Day. Here Frank sings about the reflections of teenagers, about injustices from their parent’s sides and about how kids can look after themselves much better that their parents. Frank Turner will always be surrounded by his admirer’s attention. This fact can understand if listen to the last composition from the disc Sleep Is For The Week. Ballad Of Me And My Friends is the song with the living sound recorded at the concert of Frank Turner. During the whole composition, we can listen to the joyful cries, speaking about the fact that Frank’s music brings happy and up-lifts listener’s mood. A little bit melancholic Sleep Is For The Week, at the same time, is full of a great number of fiery songs: Back In The Day, Once We Were Anarchists, The Real Damage. Frank Turner succeeded in recording the album, where two different moods are combined with each other: happy and joy, sadness and grief. Immediately after the cheerful compositions follow the hits are full of reflections about the purport of life, unsuccessful love and about emotions, which was frivoled away in vain.

Frank Turner has already gone up some steps of the fame stairs

No artist records new album with hope that it will fetch up at the thirteenth place in the charts. Every person waits that he or she will bear the palm and, of course, the laurel of fame. But if we have the rules, we should have the exceptions. Frank Turner relates to such a group of people, who write, sing and just live not for the fame and money, but for himself and for his audience. Having recorded his debut album Sleep Is For The Week, Frank Turner has already gone up some steps of the fame stairs. Although Frank doesn’t have the most powerful of voices, he possesses the crystal pronunciation, his voice has the notes of sadness and grief that make him more mysterious and interested for the listeners. For his music the character features are lightness, emotions and enormous energetic. Frank Turner said in one interview, “appearance is the result of efforts of the stylists and hairdressers”. Inside world that is the reason why many fans wait for the meeting with one of the youngest and most talented singers in our century.
