Fergie
Biography
Stacy Ann Ferguson, more known all over the world as Fergie, was born in Hacienda Heights, California, into the family with Irish, Scottish and Mexican descent. Her parents were pedagogues and Catholics, so Fergie received a strict upbringing. Since Stacy was 9 years old, she took part in an entertaining program for children Kids Incorporated, voicing different characters in a number of cartoon films. Fergie was also a Girl Scout. However, later she saw many bitter moments in her life. The strict education, given by the parents, did not prevent Fergie from many cruel disappointments in show business and personal life. Firstly, she started communication with the Mexican mafia in California. Then, with former Kids Incorporated colleague Renee Sandstorm and one more singer Stefanie Ridel she sang in a band Wild Orchid. After two failure albums, the band lost the contract with the label, and Fergie tried to fight her deep depression with the help of drugs.
Serious addiction to methamphetamine and constant clubbing exhausted Fergie so much that for some time she weighted around 40 kilos. Even taking in consideration the singer's miniature proportions, such weight was definitely below the norm. According to Fergie's own words, she came home occasionally only to change clothes. However, Stacy understood that such way of life should be stopped somehow and decided to control herself. She gave up drugs. In 2003, the artist became the sole female member of the R&B and hip-hop collective The Black Eyed Peas. Before the official accepting, Fergie recorded five songs with this group. At that time, she made friends with all the participants of the band during the working process. The same year The Black Eyed Peas released the disc Elephunk, which brought the group to the worldwide fame. It should be noted that Fergie's vocals and attractive appearance contributed greatly to this amazing success. The artist's private life also changed for the better - in 2004, Fergie met her sweetheart.
In 2006, an anticipated event took place - Fergie released her debut album The Dutchess, making a hint on the surname she shared with Sarah Ferguson, the former Duchess of York. Though the album reminds of the The Black Eyed Peas works in the matter of sound - which is no surprise, as The Dutchess was produced by the band leader Will.I.Am. - the solo creativity by Fergie showed, how many-sided the artist's talent is. In spite of all the rumours, the performer does not want to leave her band mates for the sake of the solo career - Fergie decided to work in both directions. In 2006, she also made a cameo appearance in the Poseidon film. In 2007, Fergie played a role in Grindhouse movie. For now, the singer works over the sophomore solo attempt, which will be again produced by her friend and band mate Will.I.Am.
