Kill For Love review

Chromatics know how to deal with the pure energy

It is not a secret that many bands go through difficult periods of line-up changes, and Chromatics were among those who dealt with it. Thus, nowadays there is only one original band member left – the guitarist Adam Miller. Nevertheless, the current line-up is so solid that it seems that all the changes were solely for the better. The rockers’ first three records were quite fascinating and they managed to attract attention of many music lovers to the band’s creativity. Actually, Chromatics’ fans are absolutely different from each other in the aspect of musical preferences. There are fans of punk-rock, connoisseurs of relatively young genres and directions, such as lo-fi, synth-pop and many others. Curiously enough, but the rockers’ music proved to be satisfying for them all. The artists released three amazing albums, which were critically acclaimed, and now it is the high time to get to know the quartet’s brand new studio attempt. Chromatics had been preparing it for five years, longer then their previous records, and such a serious approach is no doubt a great intrigue.

Kill For Love is worth five years waiting

Finally the long-awaited record became available for all the quartet’s faithful fans. The album’s opening act is a slow and rather leisured composition called Into The Black, full of cosmic sounds that are skillfully twisted with the beautiful guitar melody. The mysterious theme is taken further by the title song Kill For Love, the tempo of which hardly differs from the very first track. Meanwhile, the composition Back From The Grave sounds much more vivid and bright, reminding on the best examples of dance rock. Actually, the entire album will be extremely satisfying and exciting to all lovers of dancing: Chromatics presented and outstanding mix of soft rock and rhythms, which will feel comfortable on the dance floors. It is worth mentioning that some songs last more than five minutes, but at the same they are absolutely not dull or tedious. The arrangements proved to be successful and original indeed. The point is that the band is good at using all the benefits of modern digital world, and the artists do it with a huge enthusiasm. Thereby These Streets Will Never Look The Same, Running From The Sun and No Escape will become a real treasure for lovers of truly atmospheric compositions, which demand especially accurate listening. Just check out the composition called Birds Of Paradise – the musicians created it on the basis of one main melody that is gradually evolving into many variations. Such kind of creations must be listened in the most careful way; otherwise all the charm can be simply missed.

New stage in Chromatics’ art

Three albums have already played their role and helped the band to establish an outstanding reputation. Now it is Kill For Love turn – studio attempt of such quality and such volume just cannot be left without attention. There is no doubt that seventeen amazing songs will find their listeners. And still one can’t blame the quartet for sluggishness, as soon as five years have been spent in a smart way. The material’s quality is quite self-explicatory, and there are no reasons for surprise. The musicians of Chromatics know what sound they want to get and they meet the challenges artistically. Thus, the fans got compositions full of charm, which is considered to be a significant feature of independent rock. That includes originality, sincere wish to demonstrate the imaginative nature and even aspiration for theatricality. Chromatics succeeded in realizing all what they had planned to create, so they got an outstanding result. Sure thing that only time will show which album will be loved by the band’s fans most of all, but now it is possible to state that Kill For Love has already took a notable place in the quartet’s discography.
