Any Man In America
Studio Album by Blue October released in 2011Any Man In America review
Blue October’s autumn rock
Blue October have been pleasing listeners with depressive-optimistic music since the late nineties of the previous century. The band’s members had quite rough times in their lives, and it was music that helped them to go through it. And the rockers like to share their experience with numerous fans. It is not a secret that music becomes real, when it gets real life emotions. Well, Blue October had it this very way. The band somehow combines the energy of rock with melodiousness, while Blue October’s lyrics are not about some abstract things, but about the life itself, with its joys and sorrows. Probably the band got its well-deserved acknowledgment due to the sincerity. However Blue October did not achieve an incredible mainstream success. Their albums had never been constant members of tops of charts. With the exception of Foiled and Approaching Normal – they proved to be commercially successful. But the group’s fans do not seem to be paying special attention to chart performance. Well, that is a good thing – the musicians feel the support, and that is the way more important than any other factor.
Impressive Any Man in America
The work on Any Man in America has been done almost for a year, since the summer of 2010. That time the musicians collaborated with famous Tim Palmer, who already produced albums of such famous artists as The Cure, U2, Pearl Jam and many others. Nobody actually doubted the fact that Blue October could write amazing compositions, but when a talented band works jointly with a talented producer, the interest for the upcoming album increases. Anyways, the record really proved to be of the highest quality and created in Blue October’s best traditions. One of the opening songs, The Feel Again (Stay), is a bright presentation of reasons why that group is so much loved: fascinating, melodious music in the combination with a touching text. However the album has several drive tracks, such as The Chills – just a reminder of the fact that the rockers are fond of more aggressive and dynamic sound as well. The Chills is followed by The Flight (LNK To MSP), which is probably going to become a surprise for many Blue October’s fans – the hard beat and recitative in the verse are changed by energetic rock in the chorus. After all, it does not really matter, which arrangements were chosen by the musicians for Any Man in America, as soon as all of them sound harmonically. The many years experience plays its role, and of course Tim Palmer knows what he is doing.
Blue October’s new classics
Blue October is a band that is well known not only due to its music, but also due to its marvelous texts. Words in their songs mean not less than the notes do. They come from the heart and can give answers to many questions. Members of Blue October are not afraid of being open with their listeners and Any Man in America is another perfect proof of that. Well, the band’s signature style remained unchanged, and that is definitely a reason for joy. Blue October are not chasing popularity, they have absolutely another target. And the rockers have their audience; there is no problem with that. And till they stay faithful to their style, the fans will stay faithful to their favorite band. Also the fact of Blue October’s every single new work establishing a new level is quite notable. Thereby Any Man in America again raised the quality standard and, moreover, it may claim to be called one of the band’s strongest studio attempts.
