Dirty Work review

All Time Low, punk rock and open stages

The band All Time Low was formed quite recently, however it became a permanent member of various festivals in practically no time. Fresh air, crazy energy and vigorous punk-rock – all these things were definitely to the quartet’s taste. They were having real fun during the concerts, while writing songs and they were enjoying that very lifestyle. As the result their positive attitude was transmitted to listeners. All Time Low’s gigs’ quantity was increasing every single year, so the number of their faithful fans was increasing accordingly. Well, punk-rock submits only to those, who are truly sincere. Judging All Time Low’s career, the band’s wish to play music, to perform, to share their emotions and to bring joy was true indeed. In spite of the busy touring, the rockers did not forget about serious studio work. Thereby All Time Low issued an album in every two years. That year did not turn out to be an exception – the release of Dirty Work took place in summer of 2011.

Autobiographical Dirty Work

All Time Low can tell a lot about touring, endless traveling, life on the road and gigs. But at the same time they know perfectly how difficult it is to be far from home and relatives. The musicians gave us a detailed description of all these on their fourth studio attempt, so make sure to pay attention to Dirty Work’s lyrics. All Time Low decided to experiment with the sound and conception of their new creation; thereby many fans will be probably surprised. That Girl and I Feel Like Dancin differ a lot from punks’ usual material, but did anyone say that All Time Low should follow any rules? The composition Guts is not less interesting, as soon as it had been recorded in collaboration with Maja Ivarsson, the vocalist of famous representatives of dance-punk The Sounds. By the way, all songs of Dirty Work were generously spiced with elements of pop-music. Listeners will decide if it is good or not, but Dirty Work can be easily called the band’s most original and audacious work so far.

Experimental punk

All in all there are sixteen songs on the long play with the total length of almost an hour, which is quite a lot for a punk album. The musicians get older and their creativity is reaching a new level, it is simply impossible to miss. But the main point is that All Time Low still prove to everybody that you can grow up, but somehow keep your spontaneity, which is so natural for children and teenagers. Cheerful Forget About It will easily become a wonderful accompaniment for your excellent mood – this song is an ideal example of punk or anthem to youth. Recently musicians in general came to the point when they combine various genres in their art. Does it happen naturally or do they choose that way by themselves – who knows? But in case with Dirty Work it can be stated that integration took place in an incredibly successful way. All Time Low got an interesting sound after mixing punk-rock, dance-punk and pop-music. Luckily, that sound did not loose energy and positive vibes at all.
