Biography

American band Los Lobos, performing the interesting mix of modern rock and blues and traditional Latin-American melodies, was formed in 1973 in Los-Angeles. The line-up of Los Lobos remained constant since the band formation; however in 1981 Steve Berlin joined the group. That well-organized quintet released numerous albums, and their long play How Will The Wolf Survive? (1984) was included into Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time. The band’s first work Si Se Puede! appeared in 1976 and it was charitable: all the profits were sent to the fund of help to the American farmers. Two years later the musicians issued the Los Lobos Del Este De Los Angeles (1978) by themselves, presenting their interpretation of the famous Cuban song Guantanamera.

The studio attempt titled ...And A Time To Dance, released in 1983, brought the well-deserved popularity to the band and attracted the music lovers’ attention. Thus, Los Lobos signed the contract with the major record company and started working on the new material. Their following work How Will The Wolf Survive? (1984) turned out to be extremely strong, and in 1989 Rolling Stone placed it to the thirtieth line in the list of 100 Best Albums Of 80’s. In 1987 By The Light Of The Moon was issued and it proved to be as interesting, as its predecessor. The same year Los Lobos recorded the compositions to movie La Bamba official soundtrack, including the title song, which became one of the band’s most recognizable tunes.

In 1992 the experimental album Kiko was issues, and the fans really enjoyed that studio attempt. In 1995 one of the best and most successful long plays Music For Papa's Dream appeared, which had been created jointly with the legendary guitarist and singer Lalo Guerrero. After years of creativity, the musicians still got the variety of new and fresh ideas, and such works as Colossal Head, This Time and many others proved that perfectly. In 2006 the conceptual record The Town And The City was released, and it got the fair reviews from the experts. The same year the band’s discography was enlarged by the wonderful compilation album Wolf Tracks – Best Of Los Lobos (2006), including all their best songs. In 2010 Los Lobos presented the new studio attempt titled Tin Can Trust. Traditionally, the long play turned out to be strong, with Los Lobos signature sound that can be hardly mixed up with someone else’s. There is no doubt that the easy recognizable manner of play and atmosphere of Tin Can Trust will be enjoyed both by the band’s old fans and by those, who are just going to get acquainted with the atmosphere of Los Lobos music.
