Biography

The history of American country music band Little Big Town began in late eighties, when Kimberly and Karen met while studying in Samford University. After the graduation they moved to Nashville and started performing as a duo, and by 1998 they were joined by Jimi and Phillip. The quartet was named Little Big Town and the musicians began working on the new material.

Little Big Town signed the contract with Mercury Nashville Records; however no singles or albums were released. Later the quartet signed another contract with Monument Records, and it worked out much better: the self-titled debut work Little Big Town was issued in 2002. That album included such hits as Don't Waste My Time and Everything Changes, which were presented in famous Billboard magazine’s country-chart. Soon after the first release took place, the members of the quartet experienced the difficult time: Jimi Westbrook’s dad died, Fairchild and Sweet divorced with their spouses and the label’s activity was held up. The musicians had to look for the jobs; however they found time and strength to continue touring.

In 2005 Little Big Town signed the contract with Equity Music Group and started working on the new studio attempt. The release of The Road To Here took place in 2005 and soon that strong long play was certified Platinum. Moreover, The Road To Here was nominated for Grammy Award in the category the Best Country Album and the composition Boondocks was nominated for the Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals. There is no doubt that such attention from the National Academy Of Recording Arts proved the highest level of Little Big Town. The quartet’s third album titled A Place To Land was issued in 2007. It turned out to be as interesting and atmospheric as its predecessors, and A Place To Land was critically acclaimed and enjoyed by the fans. In 2008 Little Big Town changed their label Equity to Capitol Records Nashville, which acquired all the rights to that album and reissued it with some bonus tracks.

The band’s discography was enlarged by the fourth long play The Reason Why in 2010. The record got excellent reviews from critics and it is not a surprise: Little Big Town managed to find their signature sound that pleased numerous listeners. There is absolutely no doubt that The Reason Why will be interesting both for band’s old fans and for those who are just going to get acquainted with the quartet’s creativity.
