UK town lifted 44-year The Rolling Stones ban
Mar 03, 2008Blackpool council has lifted a prohibition on The Rolling Stones performances. The ban was imposed in 1964 after a riot broke out during one of their shows. A member of the 7,000-strong crowd was said to have spat at guitarist Brian Jones, chandeliers were smashed, a grand piano was trashed and seats torn.
«The ban has been officially lifted and I would love to see them play again at Blackpool. If they forgive us, we will forgive them», said council leader.
