U2 urged fans to wear masks at their concerts
Jul 07, 2009U2, who have recently started a huge world tour, urged fans to get political through their concerts. The band’s members said they want all visitors of their shows to make masks of Aung San Suu Kyi (the leader of the National League for Democracy in Burma, who has spent 13 years under house arrest).
Fans were asked to download her face from U2 official website and then wear it during the band’s track Walk On.
The band’s U2 360 Tour has begun on 30 June in Barcelona. Its name comes from a 360-degree staging/audience configuration, in which the fans will surround the stage from all sides. The tour will feature European and North American legs in 2009, each approximately 6 weeks long, with additional shows to follow in 2010.
U2 will perform in support of their recent album No Line On The Horizon that was released in December 2008. They have already announced next record, titled Songs Of Ascent.
