U2 have scored the highest grossing tour ever

Jul 07, 2011
Recently finished U2 world tour has become the highest grossing one ever. After the last gig in Moncton, Canada – that took place yesterday – their total earnings have reached the mark of $736,137,344. It means that Irish rockers have beaten the previous record set by The Rolling Stones' A Bigger Bang tour.

All in all U2 have played to 7.26 million people. Partly, this number was achieved due to the band's ground-breaking 360-degree production, which allowed to increase the audience on the arenas up to 25%.

U2 were performing in support of their last to date album No Line On The Horizon that hit the stores in 2009.

Along with the tour, U2 were working on the new album Songs Of Ascent. However, its release date is yet-unknown.
