U2 are going to win an Oscar

Jan 01, 2010
U2 believe that they have a good opportunity to win an Oscar at this year’s ceremony. The band plans to receive an award for their song Winter, the main theme for Jim Sheridan’s movie Brothers.

The composition was already nominated for Golden Globe award, but lost to the main theme from Crazy Heart movie, created by songwriter Ryan Bingham.

However, according to Jim Sheridan himself, U2 are still confident they will have Oscar award: «I'm sorry the lads didn't win a Golden Globe but I think there's a good chance they could get an Oscar instead for Best Song».

During their career U2 have won numerous prizes, including 22 Grammy Awards (more than any other band), but they yet have no cinematographic honors.

The band itself has just finished touring in support of its last to date album No Line On The Horizon, which hit the stores in February 2009. U2’s next record, titled Songs Of Ascent, is set for release in 2010.
