Thom Yorke was warned about R.E.M. split-up

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke claimed that R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe told him about the band's split-up several days before it was announced to the public. This October members of R.E.M. revealed that they have made a decision to disband after 31 years of active music career. Official statement by musicians says that they still remain good friends, and also talks about "deepest thanks" to the band's fans.

According to Thom Yorke, he was not surprised. "I think it was kind of going one way for a while", claimed he.

Radiohead singer added that he had a meeting with Stipe the day R.E.M. announced split-up: "I just wanted to check that Michael was alright. We hung out. And it was really nice to see him – very clear, very present and okay with it".

Recently Thom Yorke revealed plans concerning the band's next studio effort. According to his words, they will work on the new material through the December and January. Yorke added that Radiohead already has one track recorded – its title is Come To Your Senses.
