This Is It movie earned $200 million at box office

A documentary movie This Is It, which tells about the last days in life of Michael Jackson, has earned more than $200 million at box office worldwide during the first two weeks. The movie was premiered at the end of October. By this day, This Is It earned $61 million at the US box office only.

Originally This Is It was set to run for only two weeks. But Sony Pictures decided to extend this period until the end of November.

The movie is based on the rehearsal video for Michael Jackson’s series of gigs in London. It features digital sound and was filmed in 3-D format. Earlier it was said that the movie will include several videos that were created to be broadcasted during Michael Jackson’s concerts in London. One of these movies is an alternative version of Thriller presented in 3D format.

Sony Pictures has recently announced the decision to submit the movie for the consideration of Academy Award committee. This Is It will compete in Best Picture category.
